Got an easy run in this PM.  Body feels great, but don't "feel" like I should run fast -- the nice, easy pace just seems to be what it's telling me right now.  Hopeful that after a few more days I'll feel like kicking it up a notch again.  Good news is that the run was comfortable after yesterday's 3 hour ride.

Just read the report Laura -- sounds like you did great and had a great time.  Really liked the "nap" comment during your one transition!!!!  2400 people is HUGE for an event.

Results say that 1547 was the final count...but the race sold out all 2400 slots, so some backed out, some didn't finish? Not sure...Still a big venue. Saw women of all shapes, sizes, ages and ethnic backgrounds. Saw 2 paratriathletes on the course, one of whom lost her leg just last year. Pretty amazing...When I was stressing about losiny my noseplug during the swim and wondering if I could finish...my hubby reminded me that if they could do it on one leg, I could certainly finish with no noseplug. Man had a point, but I was darn glad I was able to keep them on!

And...

I changed my signature block to get rid of the drowning reference.

This is funny...I was thinking of changing my name to "kindofaswimmer"!

And that's why I mentor groups-to see the positive changes develop! NICE SIGGY!

Apoligies to all...I was away for the last 2 weeks and did read up on all of your goals/accomplishments/disappointments. School start on Thursday for me, final tri is Saturday (Nothing like packing them in the last 2 weeks of summer.) which is 6 days from the last one. Not sure how to train/taper for that. Think I will just get in a run/bike tomorrow and a short swim on Friday. That's about all I have time for this week. It's a crazy one!

Good luck on the back to back races!

I've been better this week in keeping my workouts on schedule. Did a short brick today w/ a 30 min bike trainer and then a 15 minute run. Been dealing with some slight right knee ligament soreness which has been around for the past few days. Tomorrow is a swim day, so I'm hoping that helps it mellow out.

Saw on the news this AM a hurricane (Irene) will be hitting us on Sunday into Monday. My first thought - "I hope the rain holds off until I get my long run in" .

Sorry folks! I've started picking up shifts at my part-time job after I get out of my full-time job and it's wiping me out and taking away from my BT time!

Great work with the training everyone.  Our summer in the States/Canada is winding down while Suzanne's is probably starting to ramp up... is there anything we haven't covered that anyone has questions about?

It's been a good training week for me. Yesterday I rode with some fast girls and it kicked my butt just to keep up! They were super nice and welcoming. I've never really drafted before and they decided it was time for me to learn One of the girls rode in front of me and another rode beside me and coached me through staying on and keeping my cadence even with the front rider. It was really fun! Today I ran 11 miles. The last 30 min was tough. I think yesterdays bike tiredness lingered. Good fun though.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Came back from a camping trip yesterday--I didn't tri-train while up there (Icehouse Reservoir in Northeastern California--BEAUTIFUL!), but I did do a 5 (or so) mile hike on very uneven boulder-y terrain. I got back on Weds. about 10 AM and had time to relax before attending my last tri class My coach moves down to Orange County next week....Anyway, completed a 800 yd swim, then a 1.7 mile run---they both went pretty well, I felt good!

Tonight I completed a 25 mile bike ride in prep for a tri in Sept (the 11th--The Luna women's triathlon festival)--the actual race distance will be 20 miles. Tonight's ride took 1 hour, 45 minutes---and was also actually 26 miles....I also became VERY motivated to get finished faster, as the sun went down sooner than expected! I did not have my bike light with me...I made it back within about 5 minutes of the trail becoming somewhat dangerous for the unlit!Surprised  Tomorrow is a 45 minute pool swim--we'll see if I can do at least 1200m....

Finally hit the pool again and everything went great. I'm breathing properly almost 100% of the time although I seem to keep my head out of the water longer on kick sets where I practiced my "left side breathing." I also got 100m with proper breathing and if my calculations are right I got 4:20 for it. I started when then red end of the hand was on the 0 mark and just swam then when I got to the end it was on the 20 mark so I'm guessing that it took me 4:20.

Great work Laura. I knew you'd survive it and great way to keep yourself motivated in regards to losing the noseplug.

Mike - I do believe you're starting to become addicted to running, lol.

Great job on the group ride Johanne

Kate - 5 mile hike sounds like a great camping xt activity. The biking and swimming sounds great too - you're doing great with them.

What's more awesome? Sounds like you have a little fire lit up under you! GO GET 'EM KATE!  Stay smart about training (pay attention to aches and pains), but feel free to give a little more oomph!

That's great Suzanne!  Having proper technique will help you out more than laps and laps of bad form. =)

Did a decent 1 hour run this AM and had a bit of a cramp in my right calf which made me walk for a minute or two. I'm going to say this was all due to the total crap diet I've eaten the past 2 days. Just garbage-a-rama. Back on track today.

Hurricane will be going west of us, so chances are we'll get some minor wind & rain

Kate, I tried to send you a PM. Not sure that it worked. I just wanted you to know that Iron Girl sells out 2400 spots in like 5 hours (at least IG Columbia did). So check on the day registration opens and be ready!

Yep and it seems to be getting better too. I seem to be able to swim and swim with no issues right now - well unless I try the speed stuff like I do on warm up to see how fast I can do my 25's, lol. I should be getting one of those pull buoy things on Tuesday after bowling too so I'll be able to concentrate on the arms even more.

Laura - Keep at it and you'll get that max further. My longest run/walk so far is 2 miles and my longest walk is 4.6 but it didn't go well, lol.

Sara - I'm sure you'll get that suuper loooong run in eventually - just build up to it smartly

Laura, Suzie, Johanne -- Glad to see all of the progress and efforts!  I've been a slug this week / just taking it easy and not really doing any training.  Am hoping to get another long group ride in tomorrow AM.

Think I may be going through a bit of a let down after the season.
