I third the motion. You can get vaseline but it globs on and feels uncomfortable. Bodyglide is the way to go. It rolls on like a deoderant stick. You can get it at your local running store.

F150mco - 2006-02-10 4:23 PM BODYGLIDE!!!! Prevents it and makes existing chaffing less irritating.

You can never have to much BODYDLIDE!!!!

Important Rule Notice

One thing I didn't cover in the rules is what to do with an injury.

If someone is injured, then the coach should let me know and we'll remove them from the stats. I've seen a few people concerned about mileage and injuries on the team boards. No one should have to worry about letting their team down and then forcing themselves to get hurt.

I agree. No one's health is worth this challenge. I have talked to a lot of people this week that are starting to feel 'twinges' in their knees and ITBs.How about this as an alternative? Can people log elliptical trainer miles? A lot less impact on the joints, plus an upper body work out. My wife as a new runner is struggling with foot problems (most likely plantar fasciitis) and I'm encouraging her to stop her running and do elliptical. She's not doing the challenge, but I know there are folks out there that are and are starting to experience 'pains.' What do you guys think?

Great idea. To facilitate this, someone who fears issues can change their mileage/minutes to appropriate alternate minutes/miles/etc.

Let's do it.

<------ Don't wanna brag but this hound dog can run two 8 m/m with a potty break.... so I think she is good for two miles in 15min... anything past two she is spent...

So do those miles count?

Well according to the February 2006 Run Challenge Rules and Terms..."Races, road running, running/walking and walking applies toward the count." Considering you're a marathoner, it might take you a while longer to accumulate dog-walking miles!

I guess that works ok if your logging in miles instead of time...

Well, I walked from my office to meet my wife yesterday for her 30 week sonogram, and it is about 1-1/2 miles each way. So does that mean I get to incloude those 3 miles in my mileage???

I think the intent of the challenge is to log scheduled workouts, not casual stuff. Some people walk about 5 - 10 miles a day in their jobs probably (not my sedentary butt of course, but there are people that do).

I think I'd have to argue that walking the pup shouldn't really count towards the "goal" unless it was your planned activity for that day.

But what the hell, I'm already grumpy today so maybe I'm just trying to pick a fight ........

Hey, I walk to the fridge from my couch every day to grab a beer, sometimes multiple times a day... i am gonna get a counter so i know how many km's i can do and add them...

haha just kidding, i think if you are taking your dog for a long walk not just to go pee or something like that, then it should count.... like if you go for like 30 min walk... why not... it is still exercise!
