I'm finding my toughest challenge at the moment is work, they don't like me taking a full hour at lunchtime.

Since when did the UK worker become a slave to the employer?

I say NO! I will take my contracted lunchbreak, if I put in more hours than I'm contracted for, I will take extra time at lunch to get it back.

What's your biggest challenge right now?

My biggest challenge right now is a cold - blocked sinuses and no energy.  Better than and injury - all of which are healed at the moment.  I'm hoping that a week on the lemsips will sort me out.

Bastard getting less than an hour for lunch - they're pretty cool here - we all take about 90/120 minutes but they get their time back in travelling and the occassional project that requires long hours.

My biggest challange is time constraints. I'm helping coach a little league team, I'm trying to raise a champion dock splashing puppy (just kidding about the champion dock splashing part), and trying to by a good husband. Tough on the training, I don't know how you guys with kids do it.

I fit the training in when the kids are at school or take them with me to the pool.

I too have the time constraint issues even though I teach at the university level.  I have students, athletes, meetings, and projects that seem to overlap with the time I have set aside of workouts.  For instance, I usually swim over lunch which is right after one of my classes.  I usually have to help 1-2 students after lecture and the pool only allows lap swim until 1.  By the time, I am done with them I have 30 minutes to swim and I still have to get to the pool.  I have no idea who those of you who have kids do it...

It's been too quiet here, this leaves me no option but to...

Roll Call...

Glenn Checking in.
Had some bug last week, really debilitating with headaches, fever and aches, I've shifted that and am back on track.

I'm here.  I don't post much cause I have been flooded with actually having to work at work.  Had my Formative Evaluation on Monday to see if they are going to rehire me, but I did join a new gym that has a ton of cool classes to motivate me to workout more.

Here! Keeping way too busy at work. Still finding time to play afterwards, which is keeping me from checking in as I was doing initially.

Expecting another 10-16" of snow in the next day or so, which is great news for snowboarding.

Swimming is still steady at twice per week (except last week due to travel). Coach is pushing us twice as hard though. That's a good thing. All in the name of continuous improvement.

Heading to the convention center this weekend to check out bikes. Still riding the bike trainer in preparation for the 100 mile iron man end of April. I've got a long ways to go before I'm prepared and I really need a better bike in order to ensure that I complete the trek. Hoping to have a couple of months of training on it. Goal: purchase a new bike the first week of March. No idea what at this point. Something inexpensive, but better than my steel framed mountain bike from Target.

Running has tapered off, but plan on picking this up again this week. Well....that's the thought anyway.

Hope all are doing well with training. Apologies for not checking in with everyone.

Hello All
Still at it in Illinois! Im waiting to get back outside. Been maintaining the treadmill (2 - 20 min/day) and Airdyne bike (7 miles 3 or 4 times/week). I have a hard time fitting in the workouts, I have 3 young children - I spend my nights making meals, doing homework and I am either playing baseball with my son or volleyball with my oldest daughter. I did lose 5 more pounds - so 15 down 85 to go!! Oh! I am married but my husband works 2nd shift (3-11) so basically I'm on my own.
It is really getting me going that I've picked a race in June in Quincy Illinois and they have shorter distances for the kids so they are training with me.
Best wishes,
Lori Z

Present!   The last couple weeks have been a whirl wind now that spring ball is here.  I am trying to get workouts in but alas I fail.  I am glad this only lasts for another month.  I am postpoining any racing until June or July due to this schedule.  I am not getting the type and quality of workouts I want in right now.

Neither am I, workout wise. I've had the children full-time the past two and the rest of this week while their mother is out training and this Mr. Mom stuff is tough! Plus I'm moving in four weeks so there's a week shot all to hell driving out to Cali. But the Sierras beckon...

Ahhh.....Cali andthe Sierras.  I miss the mountains.

Present. Just finished the Ironman 100km bike ride in Lakeville, MN. It was an awesome ride. My furthest to date. Weather was perfect. I'll begin preparing for my first tri, which is later this month in Albert Lea, MN. The waters going to be a bit on the chilly side. Definitely be wearing a full body wet suit.

I'm still swimming once a week, biking a couple of times each week and running at least once per week. I feel as though I'm on the track, but I'm a little concerned that my cardio won't hold up to a sprint given that I've been focused on just getting time in versus short bursts of speed. I have to remember that I'm not there to win, but to finish. I'll learn as I go. Hoping I don't push myself to the point of puking.

Still haven't figured out how to post photo's. For some reason, it just won't allow me to do so.

Hope all is well with everyone.

I'm back.

Work has been hell and I actually had to stand in front of a board member and demand a full lunch break in order to get my point across.

Still I have done the odd bit of exercise and I've only put 4lbs back on, I'm back on track.

Glenn.

I know I have been a huge post slacker lately.  I didn't get rehired as a teacher and have spend most of the summer trying to track down a full time job.  I have one, went back to being a Field Computer Technician for the public schools here, but it is like going back in time 3 years both mentally and career wise.  I did do(notice do and not race) another tri recently but with minimal training going in.  I did manage to get my bike in a place to get it all serviced.  Right now the frame and fork are completely stripped down and ready for sandblast and powder coat for the much needed drivetrain/cable replacements that should make me much faster and less pained in the hills.  Hope to be a better poster and 'spirer in the future.
