Randy and I are doing that swim in the afternoon which goes until 4:30 and I also need to do packet pickup. We still need to check in and change. I think I will make a separate rez there but for 6. |

Packet pickup is a snap, and it's 10 mins to the restaurant, plus it's very casual. Even if you get there at 5:15 it's no big deal. |

I made a 6pm reservation, but we will try to hustle over. I had my last planned patient of the day cancel, so I can possibly get up there a little earlier to get my short ride and run in. |

When I finished the bike, I asked the race director how much longer the course would be open because the late start clearly screwed up what was originally planned. The time he told me would have been very borderline for me to be able to finish the half-marathon, so I packed it in. Then I get home and check the results, and people were allowed to finish in 10 hours!! I would have been right around 8 1/2 hours, so I would easily have finished well inside that time. Because I got the wrong info from the race director, I've asked him to move me to the Aquabike, and am waiting to hear back. I never would have stopped if he'd told me the course would be open long after I finished. |

Extreme Veteran 335 Medway, MA | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread I sincerely understand your disappointment, but the race director bent over backwards here - isn't a half Ironman cutoff usually 8.5 hours (or even 8 hours). You cannot put any blame on the race director. If anything, he was too lenient for the 10 hour finishers...

Extreme Veteran 828 North Shore, MA. | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread I'm sorry, I may be out of line here but NO!! You can't quit and then say 'Oh put me down for something else'. Bottom line is YOU decided not to even try and make the cut off. It's YOUR choice to do that, but you can't then expect the RD to change the goalposts for you. That's not fair to him or anybody else. You CHOSE to stop, you could quite easily have continued and attempted to make the cutoff. Your time may not have been 'official' but you would have finished. To email and ask him to change the post is out of order. IMHO

Cutoff is 8 1/2 hours from the final start wave, I was 8 minutes in front of the final wave. I should have 8:38 to finish from the time my wave started. I would definitely have finished if given the time I planned for. |

Veteran 229 New York | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread I could see your point if I had been given the same information as the other racers on the course. Because the race started late, I asked the RD what time the course was closing and he was both indecisive when speaking to me (2 1/2 or 3 hours, both were under what I should have been allowed based on the original closing time from my start wave) AND provided me different information than he gave other participants I absolutely feel Im due a change here. Like what if youd gotten your bike to under the expected bike cut off only to find out the bike cutoff changed while you were out on the course? Thats the exact same as the information I was given at the time, that Id no longer have the full amount of time I expected to have to finish by 15 to 20 minutes.

Veteran 229 New York | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread ?My official time through T2 was 5:24. Not epically fast but still under all the cutoffs. Remember also that the race started late. Im still trying to figure out how late. I need to upload my garmin to get a full idea, but based on just what I know for sure, when the course director told me 2 1/2 to 3 hours, at minimum based on my starting time in comparison to the last wave and how long Id been on the course, I should have had 3:14 minutes when I completed T2, which would have been more than enough time. |

Extreme Veteran 335 Medway, MA | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread Sorry, but you're way off base here. You can't quit and then try to un-quit by asking the RD to switch you to a different race, after the fact - regardless of your rationalization. That's just not how it's done, and it would be unfair to other racers. You were given the same opportunity to finish as everyone else.

How is that true in the least? I was told I would have "2 1/2 or 3" hours, when I actually would have had 4 1/2? Can you explain how that's the same opportunity? |
