Beat the Mighty Leyton Orient 2-1 - 4th in the league...maybe going up!....Champions League is what ruined my team  ( Leeds )

'Pool were fortunate....the officials were appaling for both sides.....several dodgy offside decisions.....

Bloody hell.

Back to back 3-2 come from behind victories.  This does not do my heart any good.  Not.  At.  All. (Liverpool has got to stop giving the other teams a 2-0 head start!)

Hull continues to win.  They keep this up, and they will stay up this year, no questions asked.

Chelsea also continues to win.  In very convincing fashion.

Man United has unfortunately started to move up the table.  Knew it wouldn't last long, but a fella can dream, can't he?

And how far has Tottenham fallen.  Seriously.  Bottom of the league.  Also, they came out last week with PR that they were "joining up" with San Jose in the MLS.  Wow.  Two teams that couldn't be more suited for each other.  Both at the bottom of their tables.  Yuck!

So the only big game coming up this weekend is going to be Chelsea v. Liverpool which will give one of them top of the table, unless a draw happens.    The rest of the matches are bottom v top or bottom v bottom.

So gents, up with the opinions.  Whathca thinking about this coming weekend, or are you not looking past the Champions League matches midweek?

Thanks for keeping the thread alive, Crowny. I haven't been watching Champions League matches during the week cuz I've been watching all the baseball. My wife would not be pleased.

I love the Hull story. More EPL talk this weekend.

Ouch.  So your team is Leeds.

Most of my family live in and around Leeds.  They would have been promoted last year had it not been for the 15 point hole they had to work their way out of.  And at the mid point, I didn't see them NOT making it last year, but I guess that is why they play the matches.

Do you think they will make it up to the next level this year?  It is a shame for such a storied team to be so far down.  I feel for you.

They should make it up - resources, club support are in their favour in the lower leagues. They were ruined by blind ambition - and David O'Leary- who should be black balled from management forever....

as far as lineage - I grew up in Harrogate....got any folks there? - we played Leeds teams all the time....I actually played for Yorkshire Amateurs for a while...they were a well known youth team in Leeds....

Found these - rather funny.....

I met this really kinky girl last night. 'Humiliate me,' she said ... So I bought her a Tottenham shirt

Haringey council has blocked Tottenham's plans to build a new ground on Northumberland Park. A town hall source said: 'We don't mind having a funfair there once a year, but a circus every fortnight is a bit much.'

'I was playing Scrabble and had enough letters to make 'Tottenham Hotspur Football Club'. I was gutted when I found out it was only worth two points.'

Tesco are releasing new Oxo cubes in Spurs colours. Customers are told to look out for laughing stocks.

A young boy goes to social services and tells them he has nowhere to live. 'What about your parents?' asks the social worker. 'No, they beat me,' says the boy. 'What about your grandparents?' says the social worker. 'No, they beat me even harder!' says the boy. 'Well ... where do you want to stay then?' replies the social worker. 'Tottenham,' says the boy. 'They don't beat anyone.

What do a toothpick and Tottenham have in common? They both have two points

Juande Ramos, shortly after another training session, comments to the head groundsman at White Hart Lane how impressive the pitch is looking. 'It ought to,' replies the groundsman. 'We put 70 million quid's worth of manure on it every week.'

I just went down to the newsagents and bought Tottenham Hotspur magazine. Thank goodness they had porn mags to hide it in.

What does a Spurs fan do after he sees his team win? Turns off the Xbox

After leaving San Siro, Jose Mourinho was asked if he was going to help Spurs get out of their slump. He turned around and said, 'No way, I ain't that special'.

Apparently the entire Tottenham squad have been busy honing their skills playing the computer game Championship Manager. Sadly it seems Juande misunderstood and thinks they want to play for a Championship manager.

Contrary to what you may think, Spurs are the strongest team in the league at the moment. Sure, aren't they holding everyone else up?

What do the Premier League and a cowboy have in common? They both have spurs at their feet.

A man was found dead floating in the Thames, wearing a blond wig, full make-up, bra, knickers, suspenders and a Spurs shirt. Before informing the next of kin the police removed the Spurs shirt to save the family embarrassment.

What would an improved version of Spurs be called? Newcastle United.

Did you hear that Juande Ramos was clocked doing 169mph on the M1 coming back from Stoke? Apparently he was just so desperate for three points.

Is it just me or are Spurs the team to beat this season? Everyone's at it.

A man is sitting in a pub with his jack russell dog one Sunday afternoon. The football results are coming up on the television in the corner: 'Stoke City 2, Tottenham Hotspur 1,' reads the announcer. Suddenly the jack russell jumps up and shouts out, 'Oh, no, not again.' The shocked landlord says, 'That's amazing. Why did he say that when it was announced that Tottenham lost?' 'Because he's a Spurs supporter,' the dog's owner replies. The landlord then asks what the dog says when Tottenham win a match, to which the man replies, 'I don't know. I've only had him six months.'

When a groggy Vedran Corluka regained consciousness in the ambulance leaving the Britannia Stadium on Sunday he asked medical staff who he was. On being told he played football for Tottenham Hotspur he lapsed into a coma.

All trains through White Hart Lane have been cancelled due to a massive points failure.

What's the difference between Juande Ramos and a cowboy? A cowboy wears Spurs on his boots whereas Ramos is a poo manager.

What does THFC stand for? Tottenham Heading For the Championship.

A little boy gets £10 for his birthday and rushes down to the sports shop to buy the new football he has been desperate for. He gives the ball to the shopkeeper, who says, 'Sorry, son, this ball is £20. You only have £10'. The boy says, 'OK, if you blindfold me and I can guess the name of the club on any ball, will you give it to me for £10?' He agrees and gives the boy an Arsenal ball. 'I can hear cannons blasting, so it's an Arsenal ball.' Next he gives him a Millwall ball: 'I hear lions, so it's Millwall.' Amazed, the shopkeeper says, 'Get this and you can have it for nothing.' The boy listens and says Spurs. The man asks if he's heard a cockerel. 'No,' says the boy. 'It's going down.'

What's the difference between Bigfoot and the Spurs defence? Bigfoot has been spotted several times.

Spurs have been forced to rename their ground 'White Lane' because their 'Hart' was surgically removed when Berbatov and Keane were sold.

I was walking home the other evening and saw half the spurs team playing football with a hedgehog. I was going to call the RSPCA but the hedgehog was 4-0 up!!

My mum grew up in Meanwood and most of my family now live around Cleckeaton (sp?).

And I couldn't agree more about O'Leary.

Aaaaand......

My gratuitous MLS post.

The Fire SPANKED the NY Red Bulls last night.  Chris Rolfe got a hat trick in the first 1/2 of play!!  It was teh awesomeness.  They have now guaranteed home field advantage in the playoffs.  Unfortunately, I will miss the first game because I will be out of town.  Hrumph.  Think they will  reschedule just for me?

I was listening to some pundits this morning crapping all over the MLS for letting Beckham leave to go to Milan in the MLS off season...personally I can see why he would want to...however, if my $250M investment left to go play in someone elses shirt and league I would want considerable compensation..I dont blame him as an individual but the league seems to be sending a bad message....thoughts?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he can play, I thought it was training and training only.  Like what he did last year.  He was only there to train and nothing else.

This one says play and train - I think Capello has made it clear he needs to play in order to be considered for the national team

Wow, another Hull win. They are impressive to watch--and 20 points on the league table! WBA actually outplayed them in the first half, but Hull came out smoking after the break.

Bummed that the Chelsea/Liverpool match is not going to be televised tomorrow.

Alright footy fans.

Predictions for the weekend.

I've got to admit that I checked mid-week to see what games I get this weekend. Chelsea/Sunderland. Chelsea at home should be a winner.

Liverpool should have no problem with last place Tottenham.

Again, the game I'd most like to see is not televised--Hull/ManU

Argh yes - the magic of 'arry Rednapp....a joke - I saw the game - 'pool should have been up 2-0 easy - luck was against them for a change...look on the bright side - 'pool are at the top...they are usually looking up at the other top 3 by now so you are in better shape than normal!

Stoke beats Arse - Hull gives Manure a run....its a weird year...and more exciting than normal so fasten your seatbelts....its going to be a wild and wide open campaign

You are right.  At least we are within sight of the top.  Much closer than in the past.  But if it boils down to a tie at the end of the year, there is no chance in hell we will ever catch up to the Goal Difference that Chelsea currently has.  Good lord.  They keep racking up these high scoring affairs.

It will be a fun ride this year.  Nice to see a bit of a shake up coming along with Stoke (whodathunkit) and Hull (seriously) playing lights out footy.  They really are challenging the top of the league teams.  And it is kind of fun seeing them (including LFC) change how they play.  I think it is making it more exciting too.

Alright Crowny, you must feel better now. Liverpool 3, WBA nil.

On top of the league table alone (for at least one day) and all is well after last weekend. Keane gets two. Torres back on the pitch for a bit.

And the Fire crushed the Revolution, the bain of their playoff existance for the last few years.

Now the Fire travels to COWlumbus to take on the Crew.  My other RED team needs to have a good match against them.  All coming down to the wire.  WOOT!

And yes, Keane finally scored.  How about them apples.  Torres on to start getting match fit again.  AND Liverpool cut into the Chelsea GD by a goal.  I'll take it when I can get it.

And the best news of the weekend.  MAN U LOST!!!!!!
