benjaminjacobso - 2010-02-05 3:26 PM It's the final stretch before my little Indoor Tri -

1 more swim lesson, 1 more group exercise class, and one more spinning session.

The swim is really the only "hard" part - 15 minutes is a longish swim.
Having been training since October - I'm almost at the point where I just want to do it already!

That's where you want to be mentally.  For all of my big races, I have that "I just want to be there already" feeling.  Take that anxious energy and focus it on the swim, bike, run.  You'll do great.

When is your race?

I was having a conversation with a friend the other day.  We were discussing our favorite sport in triathlon.

So, what's your favorite of the 3 sports and why?

For me it is running.  I ran on and off (more off than on) for the past 30 years.  Swimming and cycling are things I haven't really done since I was 15 or so.    I really like the way I feel after a good run (physically spent and the endorphins help too).  I also have to say that I am enjoying both cycling and swimming a little more with each week.

I would say biking...but I think I find swimming the most rewarding because its hardest for me.

For me it's cycling.  I rode a bike as a kid and just never stopped riding.  Before tri I had not done any serious running.  I'm finally getting to a point where I can call myself a runner.  I'm actually liking running now.  Swimming is my least favorite but I do like to swim.  I especially like swimming when I can swim often and keep the 'feel' for the water.

Biking... no doubt
I'll never forget riding my bike in circles around our little community for HOURS!!!  I'll never forget my teal blue Raleigh Marathon 12 speed I got when I graduated from my Desert Star banana seat   Wish I wouldn't have left it behind in La, it would be a great commuter for me today.

BIG accomplishment for me today.

I learned how to do a flip turn!!!!  Now that I know how, I've got to train my bod to actually do it

I'm a runner.  But the swim is what intrigues me.  If I could get my body to do what I know in my brain, then I'd be all set!

Great job!  I have to admit; I don't do flip turns.  I used to.  But then I started swimming with a tri club master's group.  The pool lanes were very narrow and no one did flip turns.  Now we have moved to a new pool with wide lanes.  I think it's time to get back into flip turns.

How is every one's training going?  Are you on track to meet your goals?

I finally, after 2 months, feel like I've got some endurance back after the off season and a ski trip.  Just in time for a couple of build periods before NO 70.3.

^^^^ OH MY!!! NOLA is in 8 weeks, right??

I finally feel like I've gotten back in a groove (well, up until my skipped workout today , why do I have to work??? oh yeah, to afford to race )

Two Tri things I've GOT TO DO this weekend...
1.) Organize race shirt bids
2.) Write a training plan... I figure I have most of my crazy work days planned out (basketball tourney, soccer start dates, picture days, Easter Egg Hunt, etc) and that if I write a formal plan to start March 1st, then that gives me 12 weeks to my first race...  12 weeks to build my run back to what it never was before my knee surgery and 12 weeks to perfecte my flip turns (it's a pool swim)

For me it's swimming... I like the quiet in the water.  Seems like it's the only time that I can shut out everything else from my mind and focus on one thing.  The same is true for running and cycling, but not to the same extent as swimming.
