It was sort of quiet without you in here! Thanks Bill...as you know from the ghoulies thread its been a rough 2 weeks...but to update everyone else to my absence: Ive had to complete a clinical elective...I chose internal medicine--nephrology. It is a fantastic speciality in my opinion; however, I had to deal with some pretty rough stuff early on in my medical career like being apart of the team telling a patient that they have cancer and that the prognosis was pretty poor. Its a reality that you know exists, but its different actually doing it/being in that situation. So I've probably spent 20-25hrs doing that. Then Ive had some committee stuff for monetary allocation to recreation on campus...so another 9hrs of meetings and deliberations... ya...I have an indoor tri this sat...hopefully my past 3-4months of training pays off and the past 2 weeks have minimal effects! This is why I didn't become a doctor. More time than I want to give to a job. Plus I've learned that programmers can make as much as a doctor. I like my job. Different strokes for different folks. With the Obama health plan, programmers will probably make more than doctors now! Oh god, I just didn't bring politics into this discussion? Oh boy - here we go - LOL I'm in Canada...doesn't really effect me too much haha. Yay Canadian health care...so programmers prob make more than docs here anyways.. |
