SoccerGK - 2010-04-12 8:04 PM Got it!!!

The first bike is my old mountain bike that now is ONLY my commuter!

Then my new bike, with my green Speed Play Zero pedals, and my sweet silver Bontrager tri shoes!

Oh, and the "butthead" that I love so dearly laying next to the new bike.  She likes it!

Nice!  Have you been out yet?

Not yet!  I literally JUST got her home and set her up in the trainer to take pictures.  It was dark outside by the time we got back from getting fitted (took like 2.5 hours).  I'm hoping to get some time in tonight on her, and then hopefully more in the morning.  I'm not taking her outside until my husband can come with to make sure I'm okay on the city streets until we get to the bike trail!

Also, I LOVE these pedals!!! I've always had a hard time clipping in to Ryan's bike, and these were SO easy.  Ryan wants to steal them from me...

I'm feeling much better today, I'm about 80%, was planning a ride for tonight health be dammed, but decided instead to give myself the night off(no bootcamp this week) and be in better shape for my run tomorrow night.  Going to roast up a chicken dinner, relax and hit the hay early.

Glad to see everyone doing so great on their training and getting involved in the group:-)

Being sick is the worst!  I had such a hard time giving myself a few days to recover after the stomach bug hit our house a few months ago.  Hope you feel 100% tomorrow!

Alright, everyone, I just updated my blog with info about my injury a few years back, including pictures of my x-rays.  If you are into that kind of stuff, you may find it interesting.  If not, it may be a bit graphic.  Beware!  Feel free to take a look, though!

I am hoping that that is what this group will be fore me too (and to learn some things).  I just have zero motivation lately.  I was really mad this am when I couldn't find my flasher though.  I just can't run without something to let people know I am there when it is dark out!  I will def. be running this evening b/c i know people will be checking

I hope you find it soon!  Pretty soon it will actually be light outside at that time anyway!  I know how you feel though, I refuse to run when it's dark out.  When I did the other night, I thought I had more daylight left, and I was really paranoid the whole time.  But I'm not paranoid about drivers, just about getting mugged! (That's why the dog comes with every time!)  Just remember that working out once is the BEST motivation to do it again the next day!

By the way, I LOVE THE NEW BIKE!!!  No pains (besides my sit bones)!  If anybody needs pedals, my Speedplays are super nice!  I highly recommend them! love love love!

Have a good day everybody!!!

Tim,

Is there room?  Did you really hold me a spot??   I'll sure understand if not, as there appear to be some totally RAD people in the group already, but if you've saved me a spot, I will bring it! I am not kidding.  I will BA RING IT.

Bassandbike (aka Patrick) in a nutshell:

-Started this journey in October 2009.  6'4" 335 pounds.
-Met Chichitao, Corstan, MrsChach and Wisprunner over the winter and we straight got after it.   I lifted weights and ran/swam/rode my rear end literally off.
-I'm now 266 pounds (up from 259 and slightly pissed about it) and am more fit and stronger *by far* than ever, even in the college football days of the early 90s.
-Just completed phase 1 of my fitness goals, the Louisville Kentucky Triple Crown of running.  5k, 10k, 10Mile all within 2 weeks of eachother.  So from couch to 10 miles since October.  I'm so proud of this accomplishment I can barely put it in words.

I will complete the full bio later today if there's still room!

Talk to me!

Patrick

Patrick,

You are so in! We wouldn't have left you out! I know it is frustrating when you gain weight but you can do this. You will just get back to training and get it off...and more! You know we will be watching so even more motivation!

Hello everyone!!! Thanks for letting me in your group last minute I GREATLY appreciate it!!! I can't wait to get to know you all and hear your advice and motivation for the tri season!!!

NAME:
tri.me2010/ Courtney

STORY:I am 24 and  full time student currently taking 18 credit hours ( but the semester ends the first week of May and then I graduate in DEC) between training and school and my 20 month old daughter, my life is super busy.. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love it!!!

CURRENT TRAINING:
I am currently training 6 days a week, and getting abour 8-10 hours in. I recently hit my personal bests in both a mile run, and a 1500m swim. :D Bike is my weakest of the 3 sports, BUT I am improving everyday :D

THIS YEAR'S RACES:  My first sprint ( ever) was March 20th and was it 30 degree weather.. BRRR... :D but I loved it and I set the bar for time improvements :D . My next tri is April 24th ( sprint) and then my races go as follows ( May 1st, 5k)( May 15th ST George Tri Olympic) ( June 12th, Shark Attack Sprint) ( July 17th Scofield Olympic) ( August 7th, Women of Steel Sprint) ( October  Pumpkinman Sprint) and possibly another sprint in September.   I am addicted.
2009 RACES:
Finished '09 with my first ever Oly.  It was a good experience and I might train for one again in the future, but just not right now.  I also did my first two ever half marathons last year, breaking the 2hr mark on the 2nd race.

WEIGHTLOSS:
After my daughter was born I stepped on the scale and was SHOCKED to see what I weighed. I decided then and there I would NEVER be the "fat" mom at the playground so I started working out... and 20 months later... I am 150 pounds lighter  I got involved with tri training in January becasue I have been on a weight plateau for months and I wanted to mix things up in order to lose some weight. Well... I fell in love with triathlon training and it became part of my life... I have only lost like 6 pounds since Jan, BUT I have managed to drop 4 pants sizes and I am seeing a lot more tone and definition to my body. I feel great and my confidence has growth in leaps and bounds.

I am excited to be part of this group and to be part of the triathlon community.  :D THANKS!!!!

chichitao - 2010-04-12 6:54 AM My last mentor (props for Ken), would throw out a weekly question just to get everyone thinking and discussing and I liked that idea.

So, what is everyone's favorite triathlon event and why?

THis is a tough one for me. I LOVE swimming. I love the way I feel in the water and I have pretty good speed and endurance :D

I am also starting to really enjoy biking more, even thought it is my weakest area. I think that as I improve it might just become my favorite :D

Have you been following any kind of plan?  I would have to do the 10-11 tomorrow and then the 7-8 on Sunday.  My feet normally need a few days of recovery between any kind of long runs.  I need to be very careful in scheduling my runs right now.  Are you excited about your first half?

My daughter turns 2 in May!

OMG!!!  I just got offered a new job!  I am in such shock right now.  It totally fell in my lap and it has all happened in 10 days.  I am so excited but so nervous at the same time.  Craziness!
