Last year, there was a group that did a practice swim on Friday at 288 Lake in Houston. Has anybody heard anything about that happening this year?

And yes, I will be the fat slow guy on the Cervelo P2 with that "Thank God I am out of the water" look on MY face... oh, wait - then later you will see the "Oh My God! Now I have to run?" look. So when you run past me, make sure somebody pushes me into the gutter so I don't get trampled... thanks in advance.

Lake 288 opens at 4:00 on Fridays but will open sooner if they have at least 5 swimmers.

I will be the girl in the bacon socks cheering on everyone with that "OMG" look.

If you are on FB you can friend them and post this on their page, I would imagine with all the upcoming races you would get plenty of takers. Jimmy may even post on the page if he is opening early this Friday.

I just got a room at Moody Gardens and will be giving up my room at the Inn at the Waterpark in the next day or so.  PM me if you want to try and coordinate times, so you can pick up the reservation right after I cancel.

I was fine staying at the Waterpark, but my wife is 8 months pregnant and needs to be out and about at little as possible.  Being at Moody Gardens will help her to relax a little and enjoy the weekend.

I might be down for a swim around 4! I arrive @ Hobby Airport around 2-ish on Friday and the airport is only a few miles from the Lake.

You are right, Hobby is pretty close though you may have some traffic it shouldn't be too bad. Jimmy said he would open at 3. I am sure there will be plenty of swimmers out.

Is an athlete allowed to transfer from an Ironman 70.3 to a Sprint/International or vice-versa?

If an athlete would like to transfer from an Ironman 70.3 to a Sprint/International or vice-versa, this will be allowed. If the listing is closed/sold-out the transfer will not be available.

If an athlete wants to transfer from an Ironman 70.3 to a Sprint/International distance, will they be refunded the difference?

Athletes who would like to transfer an Ironman 70.3 to a Sprint/International distance will NOT receive a refund.

I transferred from the Sprint to the Half last year on Saturday... yeah, that is a whole separate story. Anyway, the girl at the registration table was VERY nice and supportive. It isn't the same thing you are asking, but because I didn't participate on Saturday, I was fully credited the Sprint registration AND not charged any late registration fees, but the early entry rate. I will say that in my short life as an athlete participant, NO event I have ever been in offered refunds.

I'll be arriving in a exactly one week! Crazy!

We are currently getting a mix of slush and rain, so looking forward to the warm weather.

What does everyone have on tap for the final weekend?

We've had a nice stretch of weather lately...the forecast is looking nice for next week, too. Here's hoping! And if I can put in a request for a tail wind both ways next Sunday, I would appreciate it. Smile

Tomorrow is my last big workout...I'll be on the bike for 3-1/2 hours and then head for a long open water swim at 288. Ready for the taper and the excitement build up next week.

Enjoy the last weekend and week of training...have a safe trip Friday!

Males 35-39 (P-Z) / Fluorescent Green / 7:50am

As for this weekend, I'm planning on a mild bike ride tomorrow (25 miles) and maybe an evening run. Sunday, we're headed out to the lake to try out our wetsuits. (First time using one in an OWS.)

See you there!! I'll be the one with the WICKED tan lines on my arms!

Just for giggles, I did a search for "M35-39" and counted how many entries there were in my age group. I stopped counting at 200... and I still hadn't gotten to my name.

I'd say there's a fairly good chance I won't be medaling.

You and me both.....not that I was going to be anywhere close.

Last week, I copied the list into excel and deleted all but the M35-39 AG......close to 345 (about 115 per swm wave.....)

Oh....and Chris Lieto and Matty Reed are racing too.

I have never been to Galveston. I am starting the search for places to eat since I will be in a hotel. I'm staying @ the Hampton Inn  and will have a rental car, but walking is always cool.

I'm looking for some good eats for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and especially a kinda 4 star kinda place for a special dinner.

Any ideas?
