This ab work is interesting -- good work all for keeping on top of your challenge. I have never -NEVER-devoted ANY effort in this area. In just a short time I can say I can tell that there is a change ah-comin. Just riding my bike felt different today. I want to really make a change in this area...I will!

Oops. I'm coming clean. It was my birthday on Wednesday and I totally forgot about the Ab challenge. I'll have to do a double tonight.

I don't wanna read through the rest of the posts but:

If possible, do some weighted ab work. During my powerlifting days, I got made fun of for still having a sixpack from the guys I lifted with. Was actually called "six" by most of em
Heres the workout that will KILL your abs:

If you can possibly do this workout, DO IT!

Otherwise, good look to everyone! Don't forget about your obliques!

So glad for this challenge. Because of the hurricane I am living with friends and working out of a satellite office in Pensacola, FL. I am working 15 hour days and on conference calls for hours at a time. I decided to start doing crunches while on conference calls and it passes the time and its the only exercise I am getting. We have located 500 of our 700 employees. I am still missing 10 in my department but am hopeful they have located to a safe location and just haven't gotten through. We have moved to Gulf Shores for the weekend and I think I may get to ride a bike today. Challenge week 2 complete

Wheee, since the start I have done 474 crunches!! Haven't even missed a day. Don't have a birthday through this, so I decided I'd double up on my half-birthday (9/1), and then forgot as it blew right by - so I did 66 crunches today.

This challenge has been awesome for me.

I did the core workout last night and it was tough!  I think I will try to do that twice a week in addition to the crunches.  Loving this challenge!

All these crunches and core workouts are starting to show and my abs are getting stronger and stronger and stronger. Anyway, I have been reading about fat burning, heart rates etc. I typically train at a pretty intense to moderately intense level which apparently burns carbs and not a lot of fat. In order for me to get rid of those nasty HANDLES O' LOVE I think I need to train longer with less intensity. So I am going to add a long, long light intensity run to my workouts once per week and see what that does for me. I will let you all know how it goes.

Funny you should mention this, I just had this discussion w/one of the trainers at the gym last week. They said that most folks really overestimate where their heart rate needs to be to be in a 'fat burning' zone and often end up overdoing and in the sugar/carb burning range, which just ends up shortening the workout cause you've used up your energy reserves.

Good luck and do report back!

Congrats! It does seem to get better - my abs are no longer screaming at me, and just feel nicely worked over.
