Veteran 490 Dallas | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Branson : Official Thread I don't mind the rain as the course is not that technical. Our biggest issue will be lightning as they won't let us race or will stop the race. |

Regular 215 Kirkwood, Mo. | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Branson : Official Thread I agree the rain is a non issue. I do not think there will be any ponding on those down hills but hey we are only talking about 40% chance. At least it will be a lot cooler this year. Much rather have the rain then the heat. Now if the rain held off till the run that would be awesome! |

Master 2236 Denison Texas | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Branson : Official Thread A 40% chance of rain is a 60% of no rain. 66% humidity looks unpleasant though! Also "scattered" or "Isolated" are comforting terms in this case:

Extreme Veteran 492 NW Arkansas | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Branson : Official Thread crt87 - 2011-09-14 12:48 PM I wonder why the participant list is so small... Last year my bib # was in the 1100's. I thought it was a great race. Maybe people just don't like hills or something. Anyway, my weekend obligations just cleared up so I think I'm gonna head down and race. I'm in the middle B2B training so I guess I'll start my taper 3 days out. haha. Should be fun. Part of the reason is that they don't list those of us who signed up for the Kansas and Branson special price package deal. That may be good for another 100-200 people (just a guess). I live less than two hours south of Branson and we have a cool/cold front moving through today. It's 64, windy and rainy right now. It was 90+ a couple of days ago. You just never know around here. Last year's race was very hot as I understand, so this should be a welcome change. I think it will probably be windy as well but probably not much of a factor on this course, with the exception of possibly the swim. I know with lightning they will cancel or delay the swim but I'm not sure about the bike or run. Does anyone know for sure? It seems like I've read that only the swim is the issue, but I may be "misremembering." |

But in all honestly, I know the weather is going to be great, the course will be great, and I will make it to the run portion this year! |

But in all honestly, I know the weather is going to be great, the course will be great, and I will make it to the run portion this year! I did New Orleans this year and the swim was cancelled due to winds. Basically, it turned into a "who cares about getting caught drafting as this is not a real race now". |

Extreme Veteran 669 Olathe, Kansas | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Branson : Official Thread Lightning=race cancellation. Rain only, non issue for the most part. I will not get into accuracy of different weather sources, we are coming close, computer models should be fairly accurate, but have been known to miss before. Good catch above on humidity. 66%=high humidity combined with 77-80F on the run, not much more pleasant than last year. I was there for the carnage. At race start forecast humidity 93%, reducing to 66%. Any relative humidity higher than 45% is unpleasant but it also fuels thunderstorms, check dew points and you will get a temp/dew point spread. Let's just hope for no lightning, we can deal with everything else. |

Expert 762 Missouri | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Branson : Official Thread I have asked here, I asked on Slowtwitch and even sent an email to WTC (IM Branson) to see if there are shuttles from T2 to T1 the morning of the race. So far I have received no response and I cannot find information anywhere in the Athlete Guide or on the website, so I am assuming that there will not be any shuttles taking athletes that are staying on the landing over to the swim start in the morning. Better find a ride I guess! I guess a 7 mile run before the swim wouldn't kill me. |

I know there were shuttles last year from T2 to T1. Not sure where it is in the guide, but I would be very shocked if there weren't any. You can find out for sure during check in, they will be able to tell you. |

I can't really afford the extra $100 it is on Saturday. I just found out yesterday I could do this and decided to wait until today(payday) to register. Maybe I overlooked it but it sure would have been nice if the website said when online registration closed... I wouldn't have waited. |

I think they started at 5am last year, and ran again after the race if you needed to return to the hotel.

Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Branson : Official Thread Good Luck everyone. Since I'm without a bike at the moment I'm bowing out of this one. Luckily I hadn't paid reg. fees because I knew it wouldn't sell out with worlds last week not to mention those who did it last year running from the hills this time. The money that would have gone to reg. fees, hotel, Silver Dollar City etc. will now be going towards a new bike. Hopefully I can do this one next year. Looking forward to your RR's |

Looks like I'm coming from Clovis, NM, via OKC, Tulsa, etc. and wouldn't mind company for part of the 690 miles each way... May be doing some driving tomorrow and then Sat, and home Sun and Mon morn, but I'm flexibleish. |

Let me rephrase: they don't give you a bag for T2. Last year I put all my run crap in a bag and dropped it the night before and then set it all up race morning. The athlete guide doesn't say anything about getting into T2 race morning this year, but I would be shocked if it wasn't allowed. So yes, you can have a bag, but they don't supply you with one. It is cold and rainy today and has been very cool for at least a week. 99% sure this will be a wetsuit swim. |

Member 23 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Branson : Official Thread The info email from the race that we received yesterday said: "Transition #2: Located at Branson Landing. Please see Race Day I assumed from there that we can get into T2 on Sunday, but it doesn't really say it. It talks about "checking in" your running gear. That's why I had assumed that maybe we could not even set up the transition, but just ck in a bag that they would leave in our spot or hand to us as we enter T2 during the race. I am sure this all will be clarified tomorrow during the pre-race meeting. |
