I thought that was the whole point of border babies. cross the boarder and have a baby they are citizens and leave until they are 18.

me too? girl I dated (from mexico), her cousin came over from Mexico for 2 months specifically for that reason. To the best of my knowledge that baby was a U.S. citizen when it left. Oh yeah, and it cost her $2500 to have the baby with no health insurance. |

Barry Goldwater's run was called into question because when he was born in Arizona, it was only a Territory, not a state. Learn something new every day. ![]() That example was also used in McCain's run,, Not sure why buy maybe his parents were born in a Territory, not state.
I believe but don't quote me that in Obama's case, once he reaches the of 24 or 25 the nationality of where his father, or any parent is born, doesn't matter in regards to citizenship. He would have had until that age to claim Kenyan citizenship based on his father's, but only for a limited time, hence the age requirement. Just think if he did that maybe we would have a marathoner in the White House instead of a Basketball player |

![]() | ![]() OK, it's getting weirder. (this has nothing to do with the "natural born citizen" question.) There was a buzz this morning that the released birth certificate was a fake composite. So I went to the White House site and downloaded the PDF. Opened it in Adobe Illustrator. Sure enough, there are sub layers (groups) making up the PDF. I'm not a PDF or Illustrator expert, so I don't know if these are normal for a file that is suppose to show a scanned page. Anybody know? Now one conspiracy theory is that the White House released the fake document knowing that the layer issue would be picked up so that they can spring the real document later at the right time. Who knows. But really, what are the groups/layers about? Here's a copy showing the blue bounding boxes for the groups within the one layer. If you toggle the graphics in those boxes, they turn off and on. Someone please tell me that's normal so I can go back to doing some real work, and not have to rent the Manchurian Candidate tonight. quoting someone else for brevity: "Here is some info on how/why .pdf scanned docs will have layers. There are two reasons, OCR- Optical Character Recognition and MRC- Mixed Raster Content. The former explains the text layers, the latter explains the image itself broken into layers as well as what some call the “white out” look. There are even image samples in the second link that are almost exact mirror images of that “white out” effect."

Or you can just take for granted the layers don't mean anything. Thanks Justin! I started read the first link and then started reading the second link. Part way through, I realized that taking for granted that the layers don't mean anything made sense. ;0 Does saying that it's the nature of PDFs to do this sum it up? I was born on U.S. soil to two non-U.S. citizens, neither of whom was a U.S. resident at the time. It depends. You never said whether you are a US citizen, so it's very unclear. Were your parents diplomats at the time of your birth? Also, do you possess an American passport? And, very importantly, do you possess a passport from another country? The US does not recognize dual citizenship (which possession of said passport would support). The US will not allow you to retain your US citizenship if you declare your citizenship in another country. |

The U.S. does not disallow citizenship with another country, whether declared or held from birth. It discourages multiple citizenship, but you are even allowed to be a dual citizen with a country deemed as an enemy of the state. |
