Let me clarify... last wave of the olympic distance.

Looks like the rain is supposed to pass through Saturday afternoon and evening, followed by cooler temps Sunday morning and a high of only 77 later in the day.  The only lingering conditions might be some winds from the north, but they are supposed to die down.  Hopefully before the race starts.

So a sticker for the bike simply for ID purposes after the race, or will it be for ID during the race?  No helmet sticker.  Do we have to wear the bib # on the bike or will they rely on body markings?

Rumor has it the older age groups are faster and take less time to get done with the race.  More time for younger "newbies" to complete the race.

The 30-39 age range usually has the faster average time, which is why it makes getting older and running triathlons suck.

Usually sticker goes on bike for ID purposes etc (in case you get busted for drafting).  Sometimes race numbers are hard to read etc.  I think for IMKS 70.3 they wanted you to wear the bib on the bike as well as the run so I eould guess a 5150 race would be the same.  They may announce over load speaker race morning.

I speak for younger AGers: This is also a valid reason...

I think this is the first race where there is a buffer AG wave start between mine and the ALL MALES UNDER 39 or what not nipping at my heels (or more accurately, swimming over me).

Just found on the website on the Race Info - schedule of events in small font:

"*Bike Racks numbered on the ends only"

So you get an assigned rack... but first come first serve on location.  My guess is every end spot will be taken after Saturday check in when people leave their bikes.

The Total Free-For-All will be the 2nd lap of the 5150 run and 1st lap of the Sprint! Think about it almost 800 racers on a 3 mile loop, about 1/2 of that a 5' wide path at about the same time!

Its going to be a blast! The best of luck to all of you and be carefull on those bike course U-Turns.

Please don't be one of those people with a 15 mph average bike riding in the far laft of the course!

I just picked up my packet and asked a couple of questions.  The guy there made it very clear that each bike will have an assigned slot.  The end of the rack will have a number range, but each and every slot will have a number, he said.   This permits me to leave home at 6am instead of 4:45.

Also:  a guy leaving said that wearing our number during the bike is suggested but not required (this kind of stuff can be confirmed at the actual pre-race meeting).

Thanks!  Finally, a specific answer to a specific question.  However, it will still need to be confirmed tomorrow at the actual race site due to all of the cross-info from the last few days.  Regardless, even if I only have a rack "range" on race day, I am not getting there at 4:58 just to get a slightly better spot than getting the extra 30-60 minutes of sleep.

So I guess the nice shirts we voted on were for the VIP people only?  Got my generic white cotton shirt and packet pickup.  Do we get a different shirt at the finish?

At any rate for racking assignments, I don't sleep well the night before a race anyway... so an extra 60 to 30 minutes tossing and turning in bed doesn't matter to me.

(I paid extra for the VIP package, mostly for the can)  The bad news is that I got the same white cotton t-shirt.  The other extras included the signed Chrissy book, a Michelob coozy, a 5150 beach towel and a couple of other small things.

the good news (maybe only for me) is that I prefer a cotton t-shirt.  I dont end up wearing the polyester shirts ever again when I get them.  I don't find them comfortable for casual wear or for training.

I don't think it matters.  It is just so you can get your bike out of transition so that bike theft will be more difficult.  (If it was actually for identification, then they'd probably give us two numbers... and heck, if they tell us to put it on one side or the other, I'll un-stick it and re-stick it on the correct side.)

Yeah, well my carbo loading season starts tomorrow, too.  And I am thoroughly prepared....
