So I was thinking, would this group be interested in posting pics of ourselves so that we can see what we each look like?

Thanks for making the table, Erin.

The other thing you can do is have links to other people's logs show up in your training log. To do this, go to your Training Log, click on the box with the gear (control panel) and then enter other user's names in the section to display other member's logs.  I keep track of several people on the site this way and it's quick to go in and inspire everyone.

stbrrn - 2007-01-09 12:58 PM

I made the following table w/hyperlinks to this message and everyones log. I put it in my goals section of my log. Just though I would share. If you are interested in doing the same you can copy the table from here and paste it in your own log, this way it will be easier to send inspires. I can post more detail if there are any problems.

There are some pictures of me after a swim race this summer in one of my race reports.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=46304

I'd be happy to post some more that are less blurry, though.  My husband took these with his camera phone when I found out I took second in my age group.

We are having a nasty blizzard today.  This is a picture from the front of my office at 1:00pm today.  I think I will skip my run tonight.

Wow!!  Drive home safe tonight, Erin.

I have to admit that I am just a little bit jealous, though.  I'd love enough snow to be able to go skiing.

Thanks everyone, we shut down the office early and I've made it home safe.  The police have blocked all of the highways in/out of the city and all the bridges have been closed.  I will try and take some more pictures.

Here is a picture of my neighbor's house as viewed from my back door.  You can see the snow has been pounded into their stucco.

Well, good morning groupies!  I've been working hard at it, but I think I have my race schedule for 2007 all worked out.    Only one event awaits approval from my wife, b/c it would require travelling more than 6 hours one way, but on the bright side, we could stay with my sister.

May: the CGSG Triathlon (sprint) at Ft. Leavenworth, KS

June: the KC Hospital Hill 1/2 marathon

July: off

August: the Tiger Triathlon (sprint) at Republic, MO

September: the Trail Shark Triathlon (sprint) at Bloomington, IL and a small town 5k where I took 2nd in my age group last year (a nice chunk of marble was my hardware)

October: KC Half Marathon

November: Turkey Day 5k sponsored by Sprint (yeah, their headquarters in here in KC and the 5k is run entirely on their campus)

OK, I have a training schedule question.  Since I'm building up my distances right now for my first tri (scheduled for May 19th), and all the tris I'm doing this season are sprints, should I find a schedule to use during the season (say, a 16 week sprint or olympic tri schedule), or should I just peak in May and carry those distances all season?  My guess is that my weekly training will peak like this:

Swim: 4800-5000m (per week)

Bike: 45-50 miles (per week)

Run: 20-25 miles (per week)

I'll probably use the next off season to work on drills and such, and just use this season to build up.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

Robert,
I am not an expert, but once you hit your target distances you could continue to build slowly, like one workout per week increasing the distances, and then the other workouts you could work on speed, form, and bricks.

I think you will still want to build a little bit once you reach your peak.  You wouldn't have to do it as quickly, but I think it will be more beneficial to you in the long run as you'll continue to gain endurance and have a larger base for going into the next season.  I think there might also be training plans for maintenance on the site that you could follow.

Erin, I have to ask: your avatar: what is it a picture of?  Something wearing a mask, holding a wand...but beyond that??!!

It is from the stupid hilarious White Ninja comic strip.

I'm not really attached, do you think I should change it?  Maybe I should try out some different ones.

What is your avatar?  In fact, those of us who have them should explain what they are?

Is it too small to make out?  Figures.  It's the knights from Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail...I may have to work on it a bit.

I don't think you can make your avatar any wider, and I thought your avatar was of the Monty Python Knights.
