Like I mentioned before, I'm committed to waiting this out... I ordered a Pro back in January through the LBS, and have been disappointed with the numerous setbacks from Specialized. Hopefully I won't be disappointed with the bike after all of this is said and done?

OK,

I've been watching this thread for quite a while. I too am waiting patiently. I was on my way to buy a new bike last year when the sneak preview came out and I decided to wait. My LBS said that when Specialized does a Sneak Peek that the bikes are usually out in July. Well July came and went but I placed my order in September eagerly awaiting the "November" arrival. Well, now, as anyone involved with waiting for this bike knows, it has been a true exercise in patience. I am tired of the "just around the next corner" responses from Specialized. Nobody can give me an answer as to when my order will be filled. There is also no response when asked why. Either teh company is so poorly run that they have no idea where their bikes are or they are just afraid to say what is really happening for fear of the new bike gettinga bad reputation. I feel sorry for the dealers as well because they don't seem to be getting any answers, and they have to deal with the customers directly. i eeen spoke with the rep at a local race and he said that he would bable to tell me May 1st if i would be getting my bike in time to actually train on it this season. Well May 1st came and the response I got was "hey, we got some in so it looks really promsing but...... yours isn't here. I have begun shopping for a Cervelo which is a great bike but now I will have to put a balloon over my bike to distinguish it form all the others in transition. Kind of like owning a black model T in Ford's heyday.

I feel your pain. Seriously - I was planning on racing/training my transition all season....well my B race has come and gone, now as I'm preparing for my A race in July....I won't be on the Transition as I have cancelled my order and went with a p3c. You're right that I might have to hang a balloon, but at least I'll have something to hang a balloon over.
By the way, this is happening with a lot of bike companies, not just specialized. Cervelo was/is having some problems, along with Felt. It is more about a carbon supply issue. The reason Specialized is getting so much heat is that they also had a recall on top of the carbon supply issue - something about the seat post clamp or something. I've heard that ALL orders will be filled by July 1st, but that was a month ago, so it could have changed.

I too have been keeping an eye on the postings here. I ordered the S-works module in January and I'm not sure when I can expect to see it. The rep I've been dealing with has been very cool, but he just can't say when it might be. He told me the other day the LBS I ordered the frame from will be getting in a Comp complete if I want it, but it could be mid-July before I see the S-works. So like many others here...do I wait it out until many races have gone by, or go for the Ordu/P3C/Felt DA?

O.k., maybe I'm missing something here.  I bought a P2C (ordered back in November), and recieved it in Jan.  Great Bike.  But I was at BikeSource in Denver last weekend.  They had at least 8 new 2008 Specialized on the floor.  I talked to Bob, the manager and he said they are flying out the door.  It seems specialized it taking care of their big clients.  If you want one and know the size, contact BikeSource.  They will ship, and have stores across the country.  (I do not work for them but they have been my LBS for 5+ years and I do have a good relationship with them).

They are a sweet looking bike.  I don't blame anyone for holding out, but there are other options.

good luck.

Actually, that sounds like a great reason to skip the bike entirely. If your smaller dealer can't get product, how well is Specialized going to back them when it comes to warranty claims?

I also have a Bikesource here in Overland Park, KS and there are at least 4 on the shelves now. I actually went there to buy my P2C, but would budge on the price and got it for $400 cheaper elsewhere.

Why would lack of supply of the bike have anything to do with backing a warranty??

I was called my LBS on Tuesday and told my S-Works module will be in next week. I was at another shop when they called me about ready to purchase a P3C so their timing was perfect. I test rode a Felt DA the same day and probably would have purchased that, but they only had a full bike and I'm building up. Felt told that shop they have no Framesets available until the 09 models come out and they are very limited in full bikes as well.

If you had an irreparable frame issue, there might not be any frames to replace it.

The bikes are out there.

I now have 2 a Pro (mine) and a Comp (my S.O.'s) (Both are 2008's) My original understanding of this whole debacle... was that they are going to shops that have them sold and paid for first. I had mine paid for in July/Aug of last year and it (Pro) showed up in late Feb. The Comp we ordered at the beginning of this month and it showed up two weeks later. So that threw that out the window. My suggestion would be to harass your dealer. If I can get one in two weeks then surly anyone here can get one.

Just when I was seriously considering joining Club Cervelo.

My LBS contacted me to let me know that the Transitions are really starting to move now.

I feel like I've been holding my breath for 4 months now...

Oh wait I have been!

Well the waiting paid off. I picked up my S-Works module yesterday. Now I just have to wait for my backordered Dura Ace parts. I would have loved to had it readyt for Eagleman this weekend but oh well.

Congratulations!

I am still waiting for my XL pro. I was able to test ride a large Comp last weekend in Portland and would have bought it if it was an XL. Apparently the XL's are hard to come by for some reason. i test rode a P2C, P3C, Felt B12, and a Cannondale Slice. All nice bikes with very diffeent ride qualities. I decided to wait on the Specialized for better or worse. Your delivery and any others out there give me hope.

Hey all I've been watching this thread for a bit and thought this info might be pertinent!  I just talked to a specialized employee at the San Jose (a hop skip and a jump from Morgan Hill...aka Specialized Headquarters) Int. Triathlon today... He said he did a bit of work on the on the Transition development team, and the the story he gave me was that they were having some quality control issues with the seat clamp, and that was the primary issue behind the delays. He said that they're now just starting to ship them out in considerable volumes and that all orders would be filled well before the 09's were available.  Speaking of the 09's he said that there are no planned changes except for the Pro, which will ship with the new 09 dura-ace, and as of now all of the colors will remain the same. Although jhouse, the guy told me they did paint up a few white transitions as paint samples so who knows..
