I tried to take a picture of the damage but it doesnt come out very well... oh well.. Im assuming its mainly superficial and Im lucky there wasnt a car behind me!

It seems I always mar my arms or legs right before any sort of formal dress event.  Not fun.

Too bad you can't post the damage...

I should post an update of my 'stitch' damage.  There is faint scaring-it looks like tic marks across the back of my leg.

It looks pretty superficial so as long as I dont get bruising I might get lucky and find the works of it goes pretty fast

The only thing is I need to shave my legs... I hadnt done them as i wanted them freshly done for Wednescay night... but now... well Im not sure how Im going to go shaving them...

QueenZipp - 2008-11-29 10:12 AM Running still hurts I was sore for the first half mile then felt pretty good but by mile 2.5 I knew I needed to head in. Slow and painful BUT, I got to try. I amsupposed to be videotaped at the Dr's this week so I won't run until we do that and see if she has any feedback to help me. I did PT pre-run, figured something to strengthen the hip flexors before running was probably a good idea.

I hope the Dr has some tips to help speed your recovery.

Thanks!

I think it's a balance between resting to heal and learning how to train past the pain.  I'm working on "no whining" right now, focusing on the things I can do right now and those things will help come next race season.

Thats an awesome attitude Judi - stick with that and I just KNOW you will come through this!!!

Happy Saturday Night, Nibbs!

Having a great Thanksgiving weekend - in-laws in town since Wednesday...lots of eating and drinking, but am truly enjoying the company.

Wednesday night we had organic whole-wheat lasagna.

Thursday was a traditional Thanksgiving (I went with the squash gratin - it was good, but the recipe made far too much).

Yesterday was leftovers and margaritas/Mexican.

Today was nibbles at a bunch of wineries (oh, and a bit of wine) and pizza for dinner.

If I make it through the weekend without gaining 5 pounds, I'll be a happy girl.

Hi!!!! How are you??? Know any secret cures for road rash?

After my 1 second away from becoming a bad statistic, I'm going to say time and patience.  Don't cover it up completely as to allow it to breathe.  Some persons claimed a little vaseline on it to keep it moist (not overdone so as to not allow the wound to breathe), but I don't know about that.

Sometimes it can be really painful in the shower-I apply a liberal coating of vaseline and then wipe off the excess when I am done.

That is what I did for these:

This picture is from a backpacking trip I took last year. It was a ten mile hike to Marmot Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness (WA). I took this picture just after the sun had set. Within 5 minutes the fog had enveloped the entire lake.

I went snowshoeing/backpacking/camping at Mt Rainier early last spring.  We had a night time visitor who left his signature outside our doorstep.  I got this pic the following morning.  It was a small fox-you can see the trail that his tail left.

I love this pic I took at Mt Rainier last month.  It is a little fir-less than 3ft tall. I really love the apical bud (the tip of the tree).  The needles are turned in and unfurl as the tree grows. I was able to Identify it the next week-an Abies amabilis.  I don't know what the common name is.

This pic was taken the same day-it is where we lost track of the trail(we were only a quarter mile from our destination).  I guess that I have issues with switchbacks...we probably could have found it and made it to our destination, but we were loosing the light.

Dave and I are in the pic.  Maneesh, as usual, had the camera.  Hhe avoids photos.
