| Master 1318 Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL Haha throw me some pain killers if ya don't mind If I'm able to be near 6/mi for the 5K I'll need as many as you can get your hands on! I'm not a very good sprinter, more of a 10K+ runner, this will be my 2nd 5K... first was more painful than my half marathon! Nicole83 - 2009-05-01 2:41 PM And the fact that Eric hasn't been doing speed work and can still run a 6 minute mile kind of makes me want to throw something. |

| Master 1318 Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL Happy Monday guys and gals! I'm at work already, slowly getting to the point of actually working I meant to share this video before, not sure if you all have seen it yet... http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=1714 I've been working on this the past couple weeks and it's something that I definitely wasn't doing. It hurts keeping your heel up during the pedal stroke the first few times and I started out really slow but have started to get the hang of it... Anyone else pedal this way or haven't paid attention to it yet? Newtons1st - 2009-05-04 8:15 AM Oh and happy Monday all, anyone working yet? |

This is the clear sign that you pushed through a good, strong workout!!! If it makes you feel any better my Wednesday workouts often leave me feeling like this. And I'm sorta starting to like it
P.S. Awesome racing this weekend vD, futute-vD and Justin....you guys were smokin'!! |

| Triathlete Nation ~ Texas! | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL Happy "busy" Monday Everyone! Thanks guys, for all the encouragement! I know, all-in-all, it was a good race for me (and considering it wasn't an "A" race ~ I know I shouldn't really be complaining) I have moved past it, and I am now committed on some speed for June 7th and keep building on my endurance for June 28th. I had heard of the pedal stroke Joe is talking about in that video ~ I heard it described as scraping gum from the bottom of your shoe, type of thing (I think it's the same technique). But I have also read a lot about the perfect circles technique. Eric, keep us posted and let us know how the progress goes on that technique. Betsy ~ Congrats on the PR! You guys had a great race! Eric's time is just sick... He's too big and muscular to be running sub 19 5K's... That's what skinny (135 pounders do)... lol! Congrats to both of ya! I am soooo looking forward to getting back into my routine, and doing my swim in the AM... Ahhhh, the smell of chlorine in the morning! | |

| Master 1209 New York, NY | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL Here's a question for everyone....what do your non-tri/non-active friends think about your involvement in tri's and more specifically the amount of time you put into training & things you sacrifice (ie social outings, drinking, etc) for training? I ask bc I have a non-tri friend (who is also a good friend) that all of a sudden has gotten negative about my love of triathlon and annoyed at the time I put into training. I thought I got the same vibe from this friend last summer, but told myself I was just blowing it out of proportion. I sort of surprised bc I would think she knows how fulfilling this is to me & how important it is, and as a friend who be supportive. |

Perfecting my pedal stroke is definitely something I need to be working on. Baby steps though. Right now I am working on keeping my cadence up. |

| Master 1318 Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - FULL There are some of my friends that don't understand and never will understand why I train like I do but they are generally supportive regardless.  My good friends are big believers in "whatever makes you happy go for it". I think when people aren't supportive that it's because they feel inadequate when they see their friend striving for something and they're not. Not saying your friend fits that description but just things I've noticed since starting this sport...
