rnihill - 2010-10-21 10:19 AM Wait, I do have one more comment on the subject...  is it bad that my first question about recovery time if I do have the surgery is "How long till I can bike again?", not  "How long until I can type at work"?

I totally understand this. Work is what we have to do. The other stuff is your life.

TriAya - 2010-10-21 12:37 PM I made a vague attempt to put my bike trainer together.

This thing is in complete pieces. I mean, there is not ONE bolt, nut, screw, or anything else in place. Even the magnetic drum is in pieces.

The instruction manual does NOT assume it is all in pieces. It has, count 'em, SIX steps to put this thing together.

There are thirty different kinds of pieces (not counting multiples of the same piece, and certainly not counting all the connecting equipment like screws and bolts and wingnuts and oh geez Louise).

I'm going to go with a holistic approach. I am going to Google an image of the whole trainer. Then I'm going to put it together according to how it looks. I mean, that's how you do it with Legos, right???

That's exactly how we made a windmill out of Tinker Toys the other night!  Of course, I didn't have to sit on a bike on the windmill when we were done...

rnihill - 2010-10-22 12:38 AM Hmmm.. and I wonder if aerobars would be more comfortable?  If so, I might just have to invest.  Doctors orders to take pressure off the wrist, right?  Wink

I'm sorry

More comfy, yes, less pressure, yes, but you'll still be on the hoods a lot and with STI shifting, you're still putting pressure on the wrist every time you shift. Oh dear ... this is the right wrist, isn't it?

Do it oldschool and don't shift. Leave it on a medium gear and go.

"So," I thought, as I sailed through the back window, "maybe bike trainer bits aren't so much like Legos, after all."

Hahahahah!

Pretty good. I'm about to go do a 1 hour strength session to get caught up, then a 5km run.

dimplespoo - 2010-10-21 11:59 AM Well what can I say... I have been absent from helping with the posting challenge but I am struggling to keep on track with the training. Last night did some errands (I ran in the morning) and came home to tummy not feeling right.  This morning I have MAJOR GI issues - where it seems that my body doesn't want to keep anything (sorry TMI).

Got some strength and 5 miles on tap today - will see how the day progresses since I really don't need any accidents.

Stacie, that does not sound fun at all.  First and foremost, take care of yourself today!

Thanks - trying to - I wonder if this is just a culmination of why I have been feeling slightly crummy the past few days. Not sure but it isn't fun.

GI issues aren't fun. I get really apprehensive if my tummy is feeling a little off. I would hate to be out and about if an emergency came up.

Me too - I luckily run a loop of .7 miles around the house - so if an emergency comes up I can sneak through the backyard since the loop touches the front of my house and a quick path to the back of the yard. I just don't like feeling like this - my tummy started giving me pain last night after dinner - I had some mushrooms that are deep fried (3) and I thought the frying was what screwed up my tummy. Slept great (Yay for puppy sleeping 10-5:45 when hubby's alarm went off) but then had tummy issues this morning. Pain is a constant dull pain with other sharper pains and the frequent trips to the ladies room. Will see how lunch goes and go from there - it might be a run/walk tonight with a lot more walk then run.
