kenj - 2012-02-24 10:24 AM

Last race of the winter series tomorrow.  10K, and it will probably snow again since the only snow we have gotten this year has been on race days.  But it should still be fun!

Any one else racing this weekend?

Best of luck in the 10K tomorrow, Ken -- bring your snowshoes!

I'm doing a sprint triathlon on Sunday -- might be a bit cold swimming in the SF Bay, but it should be fun... 500M Sw/20K Bk/5K run.

Good luck Steve! Have a great time!

Not racing, but I have 25 miler Feb Cake Ride on Saturday. Bike Club has a monthly Birthday Cake rides, because they're "supposed" to be a piece of cake! liars.

Have fun DJ! I agree, most ride descriptions are designed to mislead!

Well...woke up, and felt sick/under the weather. I kind of knew it was coming because I wasn't feeling "normal" for the last couple days.  I had such a stuffed up nose and couldn't breathe well. So I decided to skip my ride, and watch Voyager on Netflix.  I also got extra naps today, by night fall, I felt better. Still slightly under the weather and feeling a little tense. I suspect that it's from the stress I've been experiencing. I'll just deal with it.  No cake for me today, but I am going on a ride tomorrow (which would make up for today anyways, same mileage, and slightly more easier/slower), and put off my run on Monday, or whatever says on my Olympic training schedule...it starts, Tomorrow! eeeeeeeeek!

I know for the next two weeks the schedule will not be followed well, but I'm gonna do my best to get them in, after that it should be easier because all I am thinking about is school.

Congrats on your weight loss Brian!

Well, I am 3 for 3 in the last half of the Freezeroo series with snow storms.  This time 5 or 6 inches of snow wasn't enough, we needed a wind challenge thrown in too!  It was an out and back course so the first 3 miles we had the wind to our backs and in our face for the return! Yuck!  Not a PR type of a day!

Hows everyones weekend going?

Yikes, that sounds cold, Ken! Way to push through it, anyway!

My sprint triathlon today was a bit warmer -- a balmy 56 degrees and sunny. But the water temp was 54 -- brrrrr.

I managed a PR of 21:20 in the 5K run leg. That's my best 5K in or out of a triathlon. I think my 500M swim time was a PR too, but there was a 1/3 mile run from the water exit to the transition area, and it was included in the swim time. According to my watch, I made it out of the water in just over 10 minutes, which is pretty good for me. Overall, I placed 6th out of 13 in the 50-54 age group... My 20K bike time was 34:41, which is a little slower than my best. I either saved too much for the run, or my legs didn't thaw out until the run. I think it's probably a combination of both... still, I know I need to start doing some more speed/intensity work on the bike. Anyways, it's all fun. Hope everybody had a great weekend!

I guess I didn't pay attention to the news this weekend, didn't realize the bad guys had been that busy, I hope you get them solved!

Had a good weekend.

Ran 3 miles and walked another on Saturday morning after WW meeting.  It was windy but I wore a fleece jacket with windbreaker over top and that seemed to do the trick.

Yesterday I spent the day running around with the kids and playing outside.

This morning I went to spin class.  I'm going to try going 3x week.  Noticed some muscles that have been ignored for several months.  ouch!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

My fingers are double crossed for you on the house.  I wish someone would look at ours - 8 months on the market with nada.  No fun paying 2 house payments - no toys for me!

As for the murders - I hope you find the bad guys quickly - scary stuff.

Robin,

How is your PF?  I wanted to mention a brace that my husband uses for his occasional flare ups of PF.  He swears by it.  It is made by Aircast.  It is call the Airheel and is a small brace that you can wear inside your shoe while you walk around and/or rest.  He sometimes wears it to sleep.  I ordered it online from betterbraces.com

Might be worth a try!

I took the day off today. It's amazing how much better you feel when some stress is eliminated from your life! I took the opportunity to go to the running store for some new shoes. I'm glad I did! I used to wear a shoe with some stability after my last gait analysis. I was ordering shoes online since then and hadn't had my gait analyzed in some time. My gait actually changed. They said I obviously got faster and stronger since the last analysis they did on me. So they now have me in a neutral shoe.

I got a shoe with a little more cushioning in it this time since I'm ramping up miles training for the 1/2 marathon. I think the Zoot Ultra Ovwa's were a little light for the heavy miles I was putting on. Wet with the Mizuno Wave Riders. I'll break them in tonight with a short 4-5 miles.
