Can anyone advise if it's a bad idea to send my family out to ~ mile 4 on the run course (taking North Lagoon Dr east and then across bridge? Is there anywhere to park? If they stay out along mile 17, I figure they should be able to make it to the finish (I more shuffle than run).

Have fun everyone! So excited to finally made it to my first IM start

My dad, step mom and husband saw me at around mile 25 and were able to get to the finish in time to see me cross.  I probably did the last 1.2 miles in around 14ish minutes?  finished at 14 hours.

Not sure about parking locations.  you still have time to head out and check.

Hey guys having watched a ton of IM's and tracking a bunch of people I got tired of flipping through a bunch of pages to find the people I cared about in the IM tracker.. I spent some time created an online page to have it all in one place, figured I would share it with the community.

Once on the page, select IM Florida and then add as many bib's you want to track (put in a name and a bib, and then select add another racer) and it will build you your own personal tracking page. Nothing special but a quick place to jump between people.

The page: IM Tracker

If u want to see from an old race: IMLoo, and you can also have all the tracked people on one page by adding &f=1 to the URL .. IMLoo Full

Hopefully its useful, if so let me know and share it around

13:28 compared to last years 13:19.  This one was a gut check.  I had a tough day.  GI issues from the time we got on the bike.   Just happy to finish this one.   Bike was 30 min faster than last year despite the brutal wind on the way back.  That was a mental  exercise coming back in   Probably affected the run.

How'd everyone do?

Duane

10:41 - perfectly executed race for me. Bad dehydration issue post race, time in the med tent, but overall great day. The heat didn't effect me too much since I am used to hot and humid conditions living in Charlotte.

This morning I feel like I go ran over by a bus and now just waiting in huge lines to get some finisher merchandise.

Hope everyone had a great day and heard those 4 famous words, " you are an Ironman!"

14:34:03 - had a slow swim but was making it up on the Bike until a mishap at an aid station (me and another biker decided I need to test gravity - it still worked) - I think I torn something in my shoulder (maybe broke who knows it sure hurts). that cost me 20 minutes (My front tire flared in the mishap). I wasn't able to go aero after. then on the run the jarring pain was there until mile 9 - then all was goo to the finish - this morning not so much fun and now I need to recover quick I have IM Cozumel in 3 weeks.

First, thanks so much for the info and support the last few weeks. Had a major GI problem and struggled in middle of bike, losing quite a bit of time, but overcame, and finished at 15:49:55 and couldn't be happier. Man, the swim was wavy! The wind was strong! BUT I AM AN IRONMAN - Be well and hope everyone is recovering safely and quickly

At what point should be be booking a place to stay?  Anyone that did it this year comment on how their lodging was?  What is a good one close to the race, my husband and three kids will be coming down at some point.

We stayed at the host hotel.  While the rooms are old, it was well worth the trade out for the convience.  We had adjoining rooms and a balcony.  My familty was able to watch the swim from the balcony and then walk out the front door and watch transition.  It was also very nice to only have to walk 100 yards after a very challenging day.  The host hotel also has some condos right next door that may be a little nicer.

I was there to volunteer and stayed in the host hotel. They are old and nothing fancy.....nothing. If you are used to Marriott or Hilton.....this isn't for you. I registered for next year and booked my place to stay already. The boardwalk condos next door allow parking onsite, have larger and nicer accommodations and are right next to transition. They opened their reservation department for next November, today. You will need to book multiple nights. If no frills, no kitchen, etc is not what your looking for.....the host hotel works great. Just don't expect the ritz!! It's an old hotel that I would suspect is occupied by kids on spring and summer break during high season. My two cents!
