every blessed time i try to get on the spreadsheet my whole dang computer freezes up. can someone update me? i'll see if i can get on my log (sometimes yes--sometimes not so much) because i ran again today too-it was--well. it was work. i took my 8 year old-he rode his bike and i ran. here's the problem. #1 he's a chatterbox. and not just that he's chattering, but it's "mom, what's your favorite thing about running?" and "mom, what's your favorite thing about star wars?" and "mom, what's your LEAST favorite food?" (even though these are questions he's asked me one thousand times-he can't resist asking them NOW when i'm running, and slightly out of breath) and #2 he would get off his bike and want to WALK up the hills. i live in a VERY hilly area, i talked him in to staying on his bike for all the hills but two. it WAS good quality mom/son time, it just wasn't so much good work out time. anyway, we went out a mile, and came back.
so another 2 miles running for me. and i will try to get in the lake for a while today to boost my numbers JUST enough.

OK....I'm off across the road from work to go and swim and try and make up those numbers before I go and take my team from work out for the evening.

We are going to a local mexican bar/restaurant for food and refreshing beverages, but it also has some batting cages beside it which are owned by the restaurant (yeah I know it is weird.....but this is New Mexico) so we have a couple of cages booked for a bit of fun too.

Well that sucks.......got to the pool and the conversation went like this

"you can come in but the pool is closed"

I thought. So why the heck would I want to come in?

"it will be open again in 40mins or so" she says.

I then thought.......that's not so bad

"why is it closed?" I asked

"a kid just pooped in the pool"

AAAARRRGGGHHHHH.....YUCK....YUCK....YUCK

Some times I ask too many questions and find out more information than I need to know!

OMG! I am so sorry!!!! I can't imagine the lifeguard saying "come right on in...." Good grief!

But, hey, I guess it's no different than an OWS!

you know. i took my 8 year old with me today on my run ( i mentioned this earlier) and he was riding MOST of the time, and he kept telling me how TIRED his legs were. THEN he had to walk up one of the hills, and when we were ALMOST to the top, he said "you know mom? walking and running is WAY harder than pedaling" LMAO!! i didn't say it, but in my teeny little heart i was thinking, "yeah, maybe for YOU!!!" the pedaling is ALWAYS the heartbreaker in a race for me-i struggle and struggle, and get passed by EVERYONE. i think in my mind, well just wait till the run, i'll pass you THEN. BUT by the time i GET to the run. most people are already DONE WITH THE RACE!!!

oh!! and i DID get in the lake for about 20 minutes today!! ohmygosh-itwassocoldialmostdied!!!! i only lasted 20 minutes, but there were TONS of people out there today. it was SO hot here!! it was lovely out, but the water is SNOW MELT!!! it's freaking ALMOST FROZEN!!! LOL BUT THAT TAKES ME OVER 110% IN EVERYTHING!!! YAHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    • This is the story of my life when it comes to Triathlons. I'm lucky to pass one, maybe two people on the bike portion. It's pretty much the consensus that I ride too conservatively and have major issues pushing myself on the bike. I always seem to have way too much left in the tank in the end.

    Story of my life too. I hear nothing on the bike ride but "on your left". I have never once passed anybody on the bike. I think of maybe passing thim on the run because I am not (as) slow on the run. By the time I get to the run though, everyone has finished and left.

    i have never passed anyone. ever.
    i always push like a maniac on the bike too. i'd love to blame my bike, but i actually wonder, you know? it can't be ALL the bike's fault. and i TRAIN on the bike, but i guess not enough. i don't know. i always get kind of bummed out after a race. i mean i LOVE being a triathlete. i LOVE training. but both times i've raced, i've finished just heartbroken. makes me really super NOT want to keep racing, you know? keep training. maybe do a race a year or something, but i have to get better eventually, don't i??

    dh working a double shift today, so i can't do any training today. i'd love to get out and run like RIGHT now, because it's lovely and cool, it's supposed to get up to 91 today!!

    Ewww. I'm surprised they didn't close it for the day and shock it with a huge amount of chlorine.

    Although.... when I was a kid, I'd see the lifeguards just fling that type of stuff over the fence and no one needed to get out of the pool even. And we all survived.... Um, I suppose that just gave you even more ewwwwww's, huh?

    With only TWO DAYS TO GO, we have a NEW CHALLENGE LEADER! Congratulations to the Totally Nutty Triathletes (TNT)!

    June isn't over yet, but there are ONLY TWO MORE DAYS! So remember - if you don't MOVE IT this month, your team is likely to LOSE IT!


    PLEASE UPDATE THE SPREADSHEET WITH YOUR FINAL TOTALS BY MIDNIGHT (LOCAL TIME), TUESDAY JULY 1st. Team captains: Please assist your team members with this, if needed.


    Special Note: If you dealing with "acts of nature," such as smoke from wildfires, and this is preventing you from training, please let me know. Depending upon your situation, you may request to revise your goals.


    And remember - You may now achieve 110% of your individual goals! This means you can challenge yourself even more, or help out teammates who may be struggling to meet their goals.

    For example:
    Your swim goal may now reach 110%
    Your run goal may now reach 110%
    Your bike goal may now reach 110%
    Your "other" goal may now reach 110%

    Each individual goal will be capped at 110%. (In other words, you can't do 125% of a goal.) This means that you could, conceivably, reach a "super achiever" 110% total.


    Need a reminder of what happens at the end of June?

    The winning team(s) will display a signature line: "My team won the June Challenge!"

    All other (losing) teams will display an avatar of something that SHOULD have made them move more! This could be your shoes (ie: you should have run more), or your bike (ie: you should have biked more), or your bathing suit (ie: you should have swam more), or.... etc.

    Avatars and signature lines will be displayed for the month of July. After that, it's your choice whether to leave it, or remove it.

    First of all - GO TNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's don't get a big head - let's all keep moving. We've only got two more days so let's all try to reach our 110% goals, m'kay???

    Secondly - does the "special note" and "acts of nature" get a certain someone off the hook for poo in the pool!!!! LOL LOL LOL!!! I crack myself up! :)
