Veteran 228 | Subject: RE: chichitao's group - FULL! So sad about the Bears, but they really didn't show up to the game and played with a 3rd string QB so I guess for that they played okay. Oh well! It is just football Here is my plan for the week. I am posting it to help me stay accountable. I missed this past Saturday's workout because life got in the way. M-rest T-2.5 miles W-cross train R-rest F-2.5 miles S-spin S-4 miles The weather here in STL has been miserable. We have freezing drizzle today and have had a lot of snow for STL! I don't mind, but it is just messy. The temps have been below freezing and I don't like it! Spring cannot come soon enough! I am thinking spring today b/c I am getting ready to buy Jimmy Buffett tickets this morning! Erica-that is awesome about the HIM!!! |

Expert 1037 Portland, OR | Subject: RE: chichitao's group - FULL! I can't believe my team lost last night... I'm so upset about it. Too bad the only real "game" was the 4th quarter. I spent most of last night sulking and crying, so if I'm not in the best mood this week or next, you know why. Debbie - I think that's a great idea to write out your plan and hold yourself accountable that way. I've been doing it, and I haven't missed a workout since I started. To add extra incentive, I highlight them after I've done them so I can see my progress. It makes me feel accomplished! |

He tried to say the time put into training won't be that much more than the marathon but it would be more training time while the kids are awake! |

Expert 897 South Jersey | Subject: RE: chichitao's group - FULL! Well, my mom's hip went out again! This is the third time in a month. Last night she was laying in bed, rolled over, and it went out. My dad called me sometime between 10:30 and 11 to tell me. I talked to my sister already this morning and then my mom. They were unable to get it back in so they are transporting her to another hospital. Her doctor is at another hospital in surgery all day and he wants her at that hospital. It is all the same hospital but a different location. He is going to try to get it back in but might have to operate this time. Last week they got it back in, kept her overnight, and sent her home with a brace. They told her last week there is nothing wrong with her hip. I told her this morning if they do the same thing, she needs to go elsewhere for a second opinion. So it is the waiting game yet again. I decided last night that I am going to make some calls today and see about getting Logan in daycare for now to give her time to really heal. I don't want to put Joe in daycare because he goes to preschool 3 mornings a week and I don't want to pull him from there. I talked to my mom already this morning about it and she said she would be fine with Joe part time. |

Sorry that surgery is the answer, but the alternative of having the hip go out all the time, makes it the better option. I'll keep a positive thought for a successful surgery and a quick recovery! |

Expert 1557 Austin, TX | Subject: RE: chichitao's group - FULL! MRI basically confirmed that my knee is just fine. Good news, I guess. After some more poking and prodding we are shifting the focus from the hamstrings to a group of 3 muscles on the inside of the thigh called pes anserinus. From wikipedia: It is a major cause of chronic knee pain and weakness ("pes anserine bursitis").[3][4] Pes bursitis is a condition in which the medial portion of the knee is inflamed. If the bursa underlying the tendons of the sartorius, gracilis, and semitendinosus (pes anserinus) gets irritated from overuse or injury a person can develop this ailment. This condition usually occurs in athletes from overuse. This pathology is characterized by pain, swelling, and tenderness. (eMedicine, MD. M. Glencross). So, still no running but all the bike/swim I can eat. And the stretching routine will focus on the inside of the leg. She said if this doesn't work I might have to look into a steroid shot. |

And then we got a few hours of sleet/freezing rain yesterday evening followed by at least a foot of snow. How many days until spring? Tim...good news that nothing is wrong with the knee. I hope the shift in treatment helps! Now get on that bike and in that pool! |

Tim, great news that you won't need surgery! Now all you can do is the proper rehab, and get back into form! So, I did it. I registered for the HIM! Sept 11 is the date, so that is the big race of the summer! I actually have 2 A-Races this year, out of 5, so I'm pretty happy with that! Going to be a busy summer for me! |

I hope the shift in treatment helps! Now get on that bike and in that pool! It just won't end for y'all will it? I am getting back into the biking and swimming and it feels good. I am using my new gold membership and using the BT custom training planner and created my own plan. I set it up for 3 bikes, 3 swims, and 2 runs. It won't let you create one with less running. But then I went into my calendar once it was created and just deleted the run workouts. It is pretty cool b/c it creates the workouts for me, which are really helpful for swimming. Question for the swimmers: how do you remember your workouts? The one I did yesterday was not all that complicated but I still skipped about 200y in drills that I forgot about. Do you write it down? In a notebook, note cards, what? I never see anyone at the pool with a "cheat sheet" like that, and how do you keep it from getting wet? I used to just make up my swim workouts as I went along so being on a set workout is new to me. |

If you are not familiar, it is supposed to be the most accurate in testing of body composition. Should be interesting! |
