Weak! Maybe his girlfriend was pacing him?

Betsy0706 - 2009-05-06 12:27 PM

He said he stayed in the back with his girlfriend so I am not sure what his "real" time would have been.

evondo - 2009-05-06 12:48 PM I have the bright yellow ones. I'm haven't run sockless with them, but I've had no issues and they are extremely light!

KelliD - 2009-05-06 12:24 PM

Doesanyone use any of the Zoot tri shoes or know anyone that runs in them?  Good reviews, bad reviews?  Any chafing/bliser issues?  I've been thinking about giving them a go, and I happened to find a really good deal on them.

I got a pair of the yellow ones as well. I like them with socks but for some reason they give me blisters on the bottom of my arch when sockless. I just tried sockless Monday. It was only one time so it might change. $50 and free shipping from running warehouse

I have the TT's, which are the trainer shoes (as compared to the yellow racer's) and I have run in them sockless a good bit.  On 5k's I never had a problem with them, but the 10K for a race last August... my toes were messed up.  I think it was more of the size thena the shoe itself.  I got a blister on the back of my left achilles once too.  But I started putting a little body glide onto the high heel before a race/run in them and cured that problem.  Even the trainers are very light (like racing flats).  For '09 they have some many options, as compared to '08 when they first came out.  I paid $130 for mine last year... hindsight, they were not worth the price.  There are equally good shoes (if not better), just install some Speedlaces brand laces and you are set.  I would be okay spending $50 on them, like Todd.  Try on the racers before you buy them... the carbon fiber arch, may be too much for ya... My foot couldn't handle it, that is why I went with the TT (the Tempo is the TT with a little more support).

I am running sockless almost exclusively now, and my addidas bostons are just as comfortable, and they have the holes in the soles like the Zoots.  No blister issues!

Happy shoe buying!

x2 ~ easy excuse... You would have and did CRUSH him!  He was skeeered, that's why he was in the back...with his girlyfriend, probably carrying her purse and walking her foo-foo dog too!  (Oh sorry, that was kinda mean!)  I am just saying you would have smoked him regardless!!!  You Go BvD!

LOL, you have a point.

I did have a beer for each of you last night... I think... maybe two for each of you... lost count there after a bit.

I think I'm back to my "need to take a drinking hiatus" assessment.

I am the suck at moderation.

evondo - 2009-05-06 12:54 PM I disagree, beer is good. Hangovers are bad

A bathing suit would be much worse!

And yeah, I beat him.  He said he stayed in the back with his girlfriend so I am not sure what his "real" time would have been.

My boss is the one who talked me into doing this last triathlon that I did.  It was REALLY awkward when we were in trasition before the race and he was walking up right as I was stripping off my sweat pants and t-shirt down to my spandex.

And now, one of my co-workers wants to do a tri and he is trying to figure out when to fit in swims.  Without thinking I mentioned the pool I typically swim at during lunch... yah not sure I'm ready to make the swimmy suit debut to my co workers just yet.  LOL.

So, I've got some water stuck in my ear this morning.  The "woosh, woosh" feeling/sound is starting to really me off.  Any tips on how to get it out?  Have already tried a q-tip, pulling on my ear lobe and shaking my head.

Rubbing alcohol will dry it out.  Dump in and drain.

That, or you can do the hop up and down on one foot trick (tip your head to the side and hop on that same foot.)

I've never had to do it before but have heard of using rubbing alcohol.

For some reason I get water stuck in my ears everytime I swim. It started about 2 years ago. Never had an issue with it before then? Maybe when I gained weight my ear canals got fat? The Q-Tip after swimming works every time. I am looking at using plugs for the race though.

Almost 3 weeks until my first race of the season.  I'm getting really excited...almost like a little kid on Christmas.  I was just checking out the water temps, and barring a serious heat wave, it looks like the water will be about 60+/- degrees.   Brrrr, I know.  Even with my wetsuit, I'm gonna freeze aren't I????

Uh, yah probably.  If it stays that cold, you might want to look into getting one of those insulated swim caps with the chin strap so that you do'nt end up with an ear ache.

x2 ~ You'll be golden... no worries!  It will only be cold for the first minute. Let that water seep into your wetsuit, do a little warm up and you'll be good to go!  You could also use the moldable ear plugs to keep from cold water going into your ears.

BTW, Happy Frickin' Friday BT Peeps!
