We usually hear the footsteps or smell the perfume when we do something that she would approve of

Like when we decorate for Christmas or have family over or a party (she was a real social lady).

We have pictures of parties of hers dating back to the 30s and 40s.

The coolest ones are photos that I found that look a lot like the ones from our parties. Same furniture, people doing the same things.

It is neat that the DH (poor sick, puppy) has such deep roots.

In comparison, I am close to a tumble weed with no roots at all.

I was adopted and my dad was a single child. Both his parents died when I was little.
My Mom's parents died when she was 13 and she had no contact with her relatives after that.

she has one brother and that is it.

okay, I was going to try to get us to the next page but I need to go start the canning process.

I'll be back when I have the little jars in boiling water..

False alarm. Jars not sterile yet.

I have at least 10 minutes to let the jars boil. There is something really cool about canning stuff.

I used to freeze a bunch of things. Actually I still do.

But it is a heart break when the power goes out and you can't save it all.
