Does anyone here have "race wheels"? If so...what are they and how do you like them? How did you go about picking them?

I don't have race wheels, I want them, but its hard to explain to my wife that in addition to my $3500 road bike I need another $3500 tri bike, then a $1000 power meter, and $1400 wheels...

I really like the SRAM S80's...well I really like Zipps but they're just so expensive.

She's actually on board with the tri bike...

Personally if I were you, and you think that great things (KQ, PR, etc) can be achieved at IMLP, I'd rent a set.  It's pricey, but we are triathletes which means swim, bike, run, spend.  Or just buy em if you have the cash.

phxphotog - 2010-06-01 11:39 PM I start my 20 week 1/2 IM training program this weekend. I'm just using the one of BT as I likes the couch to Olympic that they had. I don't follow them exactly but I do try to hit the time and distance that they have on them for the week and make sure that I get my rest week in every 4 weeks. The first week on the 1/2 IM plan is about 7 hours and builds to 10 1/2 toward the end.

I should be able to get the time in but I'm going to have to get my butt out of bed in the morning and work out. Not much of a morning person and when I train by myself its hard to get motivated in the morning. If I have plans to workout with someone I get up no problem. That will probably be the biggest hurdle for me is just getting out of bed in the morning. Once I get going I'm fine.

I'm really excited to see how my fitness level changes over the next 5 months. I can already see huge gains in my fitness and weight so far and I haven't even been training very much. I know that I'll be able to finish the race but I would like to be able to set a goal time and finish in that time or better. My mental toughness is better but I still have a way to go on that also. Probably going to start to go more bike and run focused for a couple months because my swim seems to be ok for now.

Tonight I did 45 min (14.8 miles) on the stationary bike and then swan for 30 minutes straight (1400 yds). Haven't exactly set my goals for June yet.

I'm the same way.  I find it hard to get up early and train.  My life would be so much simpler if I could just wake up at 5:00 am and get a swim or run in before work.

Glad to see your making good results; remember stick to the plan.  When you start doing more, that opens you up to injury.

What bike are you looking at??

Yeah no chance to KQ...cant PR bc this is my first IM. I am just curious. I also really like the S80's...as well as Zipps and now Easton has a set i like.

I dont think i can justify the wheels now until i am happier with my engine...and the little help i would get from the wheels would actually help me get a shot at a clearwater slot or something

I feel the same way, I'll buy them when the speed will help me achieve something...probably not Kona, but I can definately win the AG at some of these races,  well I just need to check to see  if these 2 guys in my town are registered :p

I'm looking at

- Cannondale Slice
- Cervelo P2
- Cervelo P3
- Specialized Transition
- Trek Speed Concept 7

I'm leaning towards the P3, just because I has the best components with it but I really like the look of the Green Slice.  I'm a big fan of bike fit, and that's what it will come down to.

In fact I'm going to try every bike before I even have the money (I'm gullible and may make a rash decision if I bring the credit cards).

Of course, this will not happen until February at the earliest, but don't cry for me, the reason is we have to pay for an Alaskan Cruise and a 2 week trip to Italy before I can buy the bike.

I'm planning on a run tonight, but we'll see. Today has been sort of a weird day and I got some news at work (nothing bad, just a big change coming up soon) which has put me out of sorts. I'll probably have to force myself to run but feel 100% better afterward, since that is what usually happens.

I have the HED H3 tri spoke for the front of my tri bike and a wheel cover for my PT rear wheel.  I would really like to get the HED Jet 9 with the power tap sl for the rear, but after spending what I did recently on the new road bike, I better wait!

For whatever reason I've had pent up energy for the past couple DAYS!! I don't want to push myself for fear of getting hurt but DAMN I'm antsy to just run for a couple hours!!!!!  Seems like things are getting busy so alone time on the road would do my mind some good!

Our tri club is only 5 months old and now we have people piping up with opinions...but no solutions. *sigh*  It's causing a little frustration for me, but I need to stay positive for the folks who aren't being a thorn.

I CAN TELL!  You put alot of pent up energy into that first sentence! Smile

Ah, tri club politics.  My last tri club I quit out of frustration.

I was on the web site commitee, and offered to create the site.  I they offered me 2g to do it) but I didn't want money, just a lifetime membership. So I built the website, got it up and running in 2 days, and they loved it.  Except for the chair, who wanted another person (who happened to be his cousin) do it.  Magically she got to do the site, I scrapped mine, and after 15 months they finally got it up and running.  After that I never really felt comfortable around that guy and stopped going to the sessions.

There's a new one in town that's better anyway.

PennState - 2010-06-03 1:21 PM Quiet day for our thread. No training likely for me for today because of work. Anyone else training?

1.5 hours on the trainer tonight. I can't really ride outside after work on weekdays so I try to get in some good trainer work during the week. Will be my first time trying out my new saddle, I really hope it is better than the old one!
