Great racing everyone!

I needs lots of positive energy this coming sunday. I am doing the Clermont Half challenge located in Central Fl...yes...it is actually hilly! woohooo and the temps are expected to be in the 90's with high humidity. I am a little scared but this is "practice practice" for me ;-).

Cross fingers!

Have a great week everyone,

AliciaCool

GOOD LUCK ALICIA!!!!

Hi everyone.  Looks like the racing is going quite well for many of you.  I have a HIM July 9th and I am really looking forward to it.  I had a sprint scheduled this week that has been moved to mid August.  bummer

I am sure it is normal, but I am starting to question my training.  I have loosely been following the Be Iron fit Competitive plan, but life has gotten in the way as has a month worth of nagging injuries.

Can you guys take a look at my logs and let me know how you think I am doing?  Everything is acurate.  My goals are to get off the bike feeling relatively strong and eager to start the run.  Sure, weather will dictate a lot of what will happen, but under normal conditions I would like to run the marathon except for walking the aid stations. I am not ready to give a time goal.  Maybe after my HIM.

I need a new saddle in a bad way, but I feel pretty good after my long rides--though my longest has been 4 hours.

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

Great job on all of the races guys!

I did a 2.4 miles swim on Sunday.  I'm challenged when it comes to swimming so I was happy with a 1:27.  I'll try and bring that down a little for LOU, but I'm not sure I'll be able to.  I will try, though.  I have Eagleman this weekend which I'm making my main goal NUTRITION. I have yet to nail nutrition in a halfIM, so that's my goal. Otherwise, just a long training day.

My back is super painful right now so I'm staying out of the water for a bit. Swimming over 4k seems to really bother my upper back - clearly, I'm not swimming correctly ;-) lol

I can't believe this IM is so close. Boy time flies.

Alicia- YOU CAN DO!

Carrie- First of all, 1:27 is pretty respectable. No reason to hang you head low with that time. Good work. Secondly, you upper back issue could actuall be your shoulders. I had a similiar issue two years ago when I started swimming this far. I purchased and ice pack you can sling over your shoulder...yeah...good times. It says "Cold Thearapy Products, Pro Ice" on it. It's blue and reusable. Something to consider. Ok, now I'm off to give the open water a go, but without my wetsuit this time.

Thanks!  I will check that out. I always underestimate the benefits of some ice :-) Gonna google it now!

I am happy with the swim time; however, I still have to improve as that was with a wetsuit.

Carrie and Alicia-Good luck on your HIMs this weekend, can't wait to read the race reports. Alicia, after I hear about your race I'll consider doing that one next year.

Carrie-as a crappy swimmer, I am VERY impressed and jealous of your you 1:27 2.4 mile swim. I signed up for a 2.4 mile OWS swim race on July 2nd so I will get a good idea on where I am at swim wise.

If anyone is nearby South GA, there is a OWS race on July 2nd. There is a 1.2 and 2.4 mile option. The laps are 1.2 miles, so two laps for 2.4 miles. I am doing it to see where I am at for the ironman swim, not good enough of a swimmer to be competitive at this race.

AULee, that's a great time that you put up in Macon this past week in my opinion.  The conditions were pretty brutal.  86 degree water temp made the swim almost unbearable for me.  The bike course was tough but certainly manageable.  I didn't think the run course was that bad other than there was absolutely no shade and the heat index was around 100.  Like you said, great practice for Louisville.  I've had many people tell me that if you cut Louisville in half you'd get Macon.

I'm just hoping that the river is going to be a little cooler than 86 degrees.  Anyone know what the avg water temp's have been in the past?  I'm guessing that the fact that its a river will keep it cooler than a lake.

FWIW, my time was 6:27 on Saturday.  A full 30 minutes slower than my first HIM that i did back in November.  Not a great day.

This year it was late February.

Off topic, are you coming up for the Savannah Sprint this Saturday? I'm asking because I go down to Jacksonville all the time for races, it not too bad of a drive. The Savannah Sprint this Saturday is my last fun sprint until the Muncie HIM and IM Lou

jedward - nothing wrong with that time!  Conditions were absolutely nasty, and just finishing is a win in my opinion.  Good luck with the rest of your training.

I just happened to feel really good on the bike and through about half of the run.  The last 5 miles or so weren't kind, but I managed.  I wanted to hang it up on the never ending uphill between mile 10 & 11.

No... I'll be up for Augusta 70.3 and the Rock -n- Roll run. I don't have another race scheduled until August... I'm indecisive right now.

I'm doing Rock 'n' Roll as well, trying to better my time from last year's Jacksonville Bank Marathon. Hopefully I will be fully recovered from IM LOU

You guys are awesome. I'll tell you what, I sure know where to go for an ego boost. Thanks for all the ego-inflating comments.

I'm excited to continue to hear about all of your race adventures as well.

I'm envious about those of you headed to ride in LOU this weekend.

I wish Muncie were closer. I would be there with cow bells on to cheer you on.
