I'm a big cheesecake fan. I've alwyas liked it. My wife hasn't. When she was growing up, her mother used to make this stuff she called cheesecake that was basically philly cream cheese with flavor added. We would go to work parties and banquets where they would have cheesecake for dessert and she wouldn't even touch hers. Bonus for me, I could eat her cheesecake (no euphemism intended). This went on for probably ten years. So one time I ask here about her mother's cheesecake and she explains and I tell her that's not cheesecake. Finally one day she tries a bite and I haven't had two cheesecakes at one of these dinners since. You ruined it for yourself! Terrible... I don't eat meat very often so my husband usually gets extra meat, but criticises (friendly ) me about it. Lately I have been trying to increase my meat intake and he complains when I fork some of his portion... He can't make up his mind! The other day I told him that I might start integrating some high quality meat into our diet and he mentioned cost. Would you men (or steak loving women ) complain that I wanted to make you only the best cut of steak? We took steps to increase our meat intake last year. It hasn't hit out budget too hard either. The sister of one of our friends has a farm with pigs, cattle, etc. They call occasionally when the have an animal ready for slaughter. So far we picked up a pig and a cow. Its better and fresher than anything we've bought at a store or had at a restaurant and ended up costing us about $2 a pound. Now any time we want a roast or some steak or ham for dinner or some tasty bacon or sausage for breakfast, we just grab it out of the freezer. No complaints here. Paul - This is the best. I grew up this way - we raised our own cattle (I grew up on a farm ) and the neighbors had pigs. We would butcher each year. It was FABULOUS... Now I am trying to find someone where I can get some since I am away from home and I am having trouble finding good steaks here. I laughed since when I met my hubby I was like store bought meat - gross. He didn't know the difference until he tried home grown. Stacie |
