Offthegrid - 2008-10-19 3:27 AM 35:44 watch time!!! I was so happy. Not sure if it was just the crowds or what, but the hills didn't even feel that hard. Or maybe it was my prerace breakfast of canned light tuna in water and an orange. Ha ha ha!

Wow thats a really weird pre-race breakfast! But if it works for you, go right ahead!!! LOL

I eat gluten-free, so the options are pretty limited. Gluten-free bagels are disgusting. It's either eggs, or, ... just fruit. And if I eat only fruit, I am starving in 30 minutes.

The hubby thinks I'm nuts for eating tuna right out of the can without any dressing or anything. But I don't really mind it at all. This morning I ate ground turkey and an apple. We hand-picked apples this weekend. Delicious!

Went swimming this a.m. Soooooooooo tough to get out of bed, even tougher to leave the house when the temperature was in the 20s.

But it felt really, really good to be swimming again. But my swim training partner ditched me!

I tried doing a flip turn and nearly drowned. Never could do flip turns. My goal is by my tri in June that I want to be regularly doing flip turns. I think I just need more time in the water. I get out of breath when trying to do a turn.

Those of you who were on the WCP&T last month know of my shoe struggles.  I have a pair of Ascics 2130's, size 9 that I can't use.  Anyone need some new shoes?  I thought I'd check here before I put them on the Pay it Forward thread.  Here's a pic.  They are a stability shoe if that helps.

ETA: they have about 30 miles on them.

Darn, I wear those. But I need a 10. Curious what shoe you are wearing now? What were your issues?

I need a neutral shoe cause I have abnormally high arches and the dumb running store people gave me those.  I tried them for awhile but just couldn't make them work.    Too bad they aren't your size.  You have big feet!

Just remember to tuck your chin to your chest and breathe out your nose so you don't get water all up in your brain!!!   Took me forever to get it and I still miss the wall every now and then.  I just have to laugh at myself!

Tried to run this morning.  Didn't go well.   I made it a mile and was having issues.  I was all pukey.  I walked for a bit but it didn't get any better.  So, I went home.  I think I got over heated.  I don't do well when I get too hot.  I was wearing my cold weather long sleeved shirt to run on the treadmill.  Duh!  Oh well.  I'll make up for it tomorrow!  I promise!

Take a breath 2 strokes before the wall when you tuck for the flip blow bubbles from your nose. also use your last stroke into the wall as the down force to start the flip remember to turn 90 degrees while you are flipping so you hit the wall on your side... gotta love swim team

*Sigh*

I'm a wee bit tired of not being in first place.  Of course, I haven't been able to run at all this week so I have no room to talk... but since I've been an overachiever, I am still in good shape.

Hey there, gang!

I got in another run today. It was definitely an "external motivation" day. In other words, I was askeered of Mila. I had a meeting in the middle of the morning - not enough time to run beforehand, then I got home and decided I really needed to sleep. Ate something and was crawling into bed about a half hour PAST my bedtime when I decided that a run was more important, these gorgeous fall days are going to get a lot less common, and I needed to HTFU. it was a step-up run, so I'm now almost back to where I was before I started rebuilding my fitness. I'm glad I did it, but running after eating too much was rough! Plus, I went to bed two hours late, so now I'm all wiggy and feel gross. Glad I got the run in, though.

Speaking of (apples), my BFF made the BEST APPLE PIE EVER!!!! It was absolutely gorgeous, and tasted even better. Yay, BFF!

Oh, speaking of pumpkins this time, we tried something new this fall: sweet canned/pickled pumpkin. It is really pretty, kind of a yellow with a tint of orange. It has sugar and cinnamon. I'm thinking of doing a chutney with some of it, like a sweet mango chutney, maybe over pork loins or roast. I also think it would make a fabulous fruity bread, maybe a hearty white with the chunks of pumpkin folded in. Or maybe something like cinnamon raisin bread with the pumpkin chunks instead of raisins. I'll let you know how it goes!

THE 20's!!! I don't think I would have left my bed. Yep... I am defiantly a souther California person.

I'm actually looking forward to running in the crisp cold. Of course, my schedule keeps shoving my run to around noon or 1, so it has warmed up to the high 40s or even 50ish. 35 is a miserable temp, but I think 20-something will be fun. Just gotta dress for it, I guess. I also just found out that the brook that runs by my fabulous apartment freezes solid, and lots of people snowshoe on it. My landlord got all excited and said she'd love to go out with me. So yay, that should be fun to explore! I'm psyched to have options besides the road and serious trails this winter - I have a dirt road that isn't plowed right next to my house, and then the brook, plus a couple other dirt roads. Should be much better than last winter where my only option was the iced over, salted/sanded, snowbank-covered side/middle of the road. That was a no-go, let's just say.

Don't drown. Then we might lose the challenge and Mila will come haunt you in the afterlife, like a reverse ghost or something. I don't think you want that.
