Hi all! Hope you are having a good weekend.

Challenge ends TODAY!!!! Please enter your totals on the spreadsheet ( that our wonderful Kevin has created). Tommorow I will announce the winners!!!!!! I will try to dream up another challenge for the next 2 weeks. Ah just when you thought you were done!!!!

I had a great day at a swim clinic that a local BTer put together. Best $50 I have ever spent on tri training. There werre 5 participants and 2 instructors. We swam for over an hour and they critiqued our stroke and gave us suggestions and drills. Both instructors were triathletes and one was a swim coach. At the end they videotaped us from underwater and above water. They then played the video on the screen and we were able to see ourselves while they both offered suggestions to improve. I really enjoyed this.

If you ever get the opportunity to have yourself videotaped swimming, do it! It is very informative and helpful. Recently I have been having a lot of aches and pains in my left shoulder. Turns out that my form/pull on that side is pretty bad and is probably contributing to the pain. See....you can teach and old dog new tricks!!!!

The next challenge is biking!!!!!
Who can bike the most minutes in a month????? Drainer minutes count the same as road minutes( we dont discriminate against our friends from the North)

Fun begins tommorow 3/15 and ends 3/29. It will be a two week challenge

Hello gang.  I'm still here, I've just been really busy.  I haven't gotten as much training in as I'd like, but I have managed to run my fastest 1 mile since high school (which was 20 plus years ago) and I have also done my longest run ever.  In non athletic news, I worked all night last night as part of a "no refusal" program to get drunk drivers off the road.  (we get a search warrant for blood/urine if the motorist refuses a breath test).  At midnight we had a 20 year old kid launch his car into a house, into someone's bedroom, and yes killing one and I don't know if his wife survived.  He ran from the cops to avoid a "zero tolerance" ticket.  Very sad.  I have mile repeats tomorrow, and lots of trials for the next three weeks.  I'll check in when I can.  have a great week.

Here I am lol!  Thanks Mav & Aquagirl.

A bit about me:

My name is Jessie, I'm 28 and a mother of a 9yr old boy and 2yr old girl.  I joined BT in Sep 2009 but my Tri efforts quickly went by the way-side as I realized childcare issues were more problematic than the actual training.  Alas, I have that fixed thanks to Early morning daycare and the Child Minding at my YMCA.

Experience

My experiece in Triathlon is at the Junior level (think KOS), I started my training when I was 7 and from the age of 9-14 was coach by Ironmen.  After that life sorta got in the way and I became fairly dormant as far as exercising went.  Both my father and sister are triathletes and 6x Ironman Canada Finishers, I will be at IMC this year as race support for them and their team, it will be my first year as race support but my 10th time going to IMC.  Every single year I'm in tears during Ironman Canada because I am so proud of every single person that is in that water back stroking or pedalling through the quad cramps or just shuffeling the feet on the run so that at least they are moving in a forward direction...I am extremely emotional when it comes to Ironman Canada and am out there until the very last person crosses that finish line and as the hours tick away I become louder and louder so that, even if for a brief second, I can take that athletes attention away from the pain and put it on their accomplishment thus far and hopefully give that little bit of encouragement to someone who might be thinking "I just can't".

So Why Am I Here?
I want nothing more than to cross the finish line and hear "Jessie xxx YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!!!" It has been my life dream and I'm done dreaming - it's time to realize that dream.  So in 2012 I will enter myself into Ironman Canada and until that moment I'm going to train as hard as I possibly can to prepare myself.  I need lots of help and guidance as I have tonnes of questions, and in lieu of experience I can offer encouragement.

Also want to add that I'm totally in for the Bike challenge!  Now that I got my embarrassing Spin Bike incident out of the way ( http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=199431&posts=5&start=1

And bought myself some spin shorts - because frankly the Devi! invented that seat...what the heck am I saying, that's not even a seat!  Also bought myself an IPod shuffle instead of trying to retrieve that IPod touch that I stupidly put in the "waist band" of my leggings during a jog on the track, let me tell you it's awfully hard to retrieve an IPod touch from your crotch "discreetly" in the middle of a packed gym...yeah - I'm a newbie.

Tomorrow is run & swim in the am. Might switch that to swim & swim, really interested in trying TI right now.

Welcome Jessie! Good luck training for IM Canada! I can only imagine how hard that would be with two young children. Quite a challenge in many ways! Great that you have an IM family!
