Subject: RE: Come and play with aquagirl and mav ! CLOSED I invited another mentee "tryingtotri" to join us. If she shows up give her a warm BT welcome!!!!!!
Here I am lol! Thanks Mav & Aquagirl. A bit about me: My name is Jessie, I'm 28 and a mother of a 9yr old boy and 2yr old girl. I joined BT in Sep 2009 but my Tri efforts quickly went by the way-side as I realized childcare issues were more problematic than the actual training. Alas, I have that fixed thanks to Early morning daycare and the Child Minding at my YMCA. ExperienceMy experiece in Triathlon is at the Junior level (think KOS ), I started my training when I was 7 and from the age of 9-14 was coach by Ironmen. After that life sorta got in the way and I became fairly dormant as far as exercising went. Both my father and sister are triathletes and 6x Ironman Canada Finishers, I will be at IMC this year as race support for them and their team, it will be my first year as race support but my 10th time going to IMC. Every single year I'm in tears during Ironman Canada because I am so proud of every single person that is in that water back stroking or pedalling through the quad cramps or just shuffeling the feet on the run so that at least they are moving in a forward direction...I am extremely emotional when it comes to Ironman Canada and am out there until the very last person crosses that finish line and as the hours tick away I become louder and louder so that, even if for a brief second, I can take that athletes attention away from the pain and put it on their accomplishment thus far and hopefully give that little bit of encouragement to someone who might be thinking "I just can't". So Why Am I Here?I want nothing more than to cross the finish line and hear "Jessie xxx YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!!!" It has been my life dream and I'm done dreaming - it's time to realize that dream. So in 2012 I will enter myself into Ironman Canada and until that moment I'm going to train as hard as I possibly can to prepare myself. I need lots of help and guidance as I have tonnes of questions, and in lieu of experience I can offer encouragement. Also want to add that I'm totally in for the Bike challenge! Now that I got my embarrassing Spin Bike incident out of the way ( http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=199431&posts=5&start=1   And bought myself some spin shorts - because frankly the Devi! invented that seat...what the heck am I saying, that's not even a seat! Also bought myself an IPod shuffle instead of trying to retrieve that IPod touch that I stupidly put in the "waist band" of my leggings during a jog on the track, let me tell you it's awfully hard to retrieve an IPod touch from your crotch "discreetly" in the middle of a packed gym...yeah - I'm a newbie. Tomorrow is run & swim in the am. Might switch that to swim & swim, really interested in trying TI right now. |
