Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'll be doing a full change in each transition. Swim: bathing suit / full wetsuit Bike: padded cycling shorts / cycling jersey Run: tri short / tri top Figure the couple extra minutes is worth the comfort. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() I would wear whatever you've been wearing in training. If you've been wearing bike shorts for all your long training rides, it's probably worth the small time required to change into those, rather than risk a chafing problem wearing something you're not used to. I'm just wearing my tri outfit for the whole thing, but I'm used to long rides in those tri shorts and have the callouses to show for it! Haha Also, I just read the post by freeswimmingfish about being ready for the ironman and I teared up. Thanks for posting that. That was sooo what I needed to hear today. I am stressing over the mass swim with so many people. I'm used to wave swims with 100-200 people at a time. Any suggestions about what to do at the first turn buoy? I'm worried about getting squished. ![]() |

![]() | ![]() Bike is cleaned and tuned, with ALL new cables and cable housings ~ super smooth! I'll put another 60 miles over three rides between now and Friday 11/6!!! I'll be sporting the tri shorts & jersey under the wetsuit... with no changes except to add/remove arm warmers if needed and apply some chamois butter in T1. T-2 is simply swap shoes and throw on my visor. I'll be spending my day in the tri attire that I start this adventure in! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Diana Gough - 2009-10-29 10:28 PM ksmith4 - 2009-10-29 8:40 PM In the event you don't have the mountain bike option...there is a company near there that rents golf carts that can be driven on a public rd. They are tagged like a vehicle. They aren't cheap but if you are going to get it for a few days they might give you a deal. Go on line and put in PCB golf cart rentals. They will actually deliver it to you, I think. My parents are going and have bum knees and I was considering getting them one. But the cost was kinda high for 1 day and that is all they would have needed.Trivol - 2009-10-29 4:13 PM Someone just mentioned taking a cab to the race site. I have been to PCB quite a few times but I know there are people on this thread that have been more and live close. I might look at rental car or something as cabs were not prevelant. Just a thought. None of us will need SAG support, None of us will need SAG support, None of us will need SAG support. Adding this to the things to hope for. Cab service is slow at PCB. I am staying 2 miles from the race site. I am bring in my own cab IE my old mountain bike with big fat tires on it. Easy to park and the fare is pretty cheap. In regards to getting around...you may want to see if the Trolley comes by your hotel/condo. You can google the PCB Trolley and get the routes and times. Also, check California Cycles...they rent scooters, golf carts, etc. They are working on Front Beach to expand it in the future... |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Brittany - I was so sorry to hear about your loss and I think it is awesome that you are going to be able to be there for your troops and still end up racing IMAZ. We will definitely miss you in PCB (ok, the people in your AG won't!) but I look forward to watching you in AZ. Thank you for your service! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() katiemc - 2009-10-30 8:14 AM What does everyone wear under their wetsuit? I need the full padding of bike shorts for 112 miles so am not wearing my tri bottoms, but don't know if I should wear the bike shorts i under the wetsuit or just a swim suit and then slip bike shorts on in the transition. Any advice? Has anyone rode in wet bike shorts before? any issues? thanks! I think folks that do a full change out to bike gear generally just wear a swimsuit under the wetsuit. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() TexasMPGal - 2009-10-30 6:33 AM Well Florida peeps, I'm sad about this, but I'm not going to be in PCB with you guys this year. My responsibilities to my Soldiers as an Army Officer are taking priority over this race. Due to some incredible friends and reason for my pulling from IMFL, I am fortunate enough to be able to do IMAZ '09. I will be rooting and tracking y'all on 11-7-09, and it will be weird to not be there with you. I just might have try and sign up online for 2010...so much for not doing back to back Ironmans. ![]() Be safe this next week, don't try to cram training in...I'll probably try to cram in some long stuff this weekend if my current obligations allow! Just when I thought I was done... ![]() KICK BUTT IMFL'ERS! My dear...you are my hero. Thank you for all you do for us to keep us safe at night and your commitment to your soldiers is so very significant and heartfelt. You are an amazing individual and I am honored to know you. Wishing you much success at Arizona!! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So does anyone besides me have Ironman theme music. I like to train with music a lot. It makes the workout more entertaining plus when I am running without the music it still plays in my head and helps me with my cadence. The songs I like tend to be ones I've seen on Youtube set to Ironman videos. My "theme" would definitely have to be "Lose Yourself". However, they are a bunch of other ones I play in my head during the race such as "Till I collapse", "Who's your daddy", Theme to "The Unit" among others. What is your "theme" music? |

Member ![]() | ![]() I like "The Distance" by CAKE.... part of the lyrics "no trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine, he's haunted by something he cannot define. bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse, assail him, impale him with monster-truck force. in his mind, he's still driving, still making the grade. she's hoping in time that her memories will fade. cause he's racing and pacing and plotting the course, he's fighting and biting and riding on his horse. the sun has gone down and the moon has come up, and long ago somebody left with the cup. but he's striving and driving and hugging the turns. and thinking of someone for whom he still burns. cause he's going the distance. he's going for speed." i also like Till I Collapse and Lose yourself as well |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Question on Panama City childcare - anyone using local services for Childcare/Welcome dinner, etc.? I'm at Shores of Panama, and their Kids' Club is shut down for the season. If you have any suggestions, or have found a service/business that you're planning to use, then please PM me if possible (assuming most folks won't want to follow the thread). Thanks for any insights! Cheers, Mark |

I'm plan to do the same in FL. |

I am definitely going to owe him after this trip. I will let you know if I hear of anything. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Am staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree, a couple of miles from race start...anyone know if it possible to park near the resort, or do I have to get dropped off on race day? |
![]() ![]() |
Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() just chiming in on race attire...I have a one piece tri suit with a think chamois padding...and that's all I will wear. Once you get on the bike, if you are like me, you won't stay dry for long. I like to keep it simple and have less to worry about. But, do what works for you ![]() Brittany. Bless you. You are an inspiration on how to live. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Love the Cake song and Lose Yourself - Im all over the place w/ my music and unfortunately to those around me, like to sing out loud. Just got the good word from the dr. Tendonitis it is which means cortisone shot Monday and hope for the best on Saturday! I'll be easy to spot - the one with the big black orthopedic boot on my right leg In my head, I'm imagining just the BT folks racing. Although I know there are 2000+ racers, it feels like our own little party just from this forum. |

So even still, we'll make up 3-5% of the race! Pretty neat. There should always be a BTer somehwere within a few minutes of us come race day. ![]() I'm pretty sure I'm gonna wear my BT tri top during the run...so you'll know if its me! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Still trying to figure out what the heck to wear on Race Day. In ALL of my races, I have worn a trisuit but am concerned that the chamois is not thick enough for 112 miles. I considered wearing bike shorts OVER the tri suit (one of the girls in my tri club is doing that) for more padding and did a 50 mile ride like that an it wasn't bad. The problem is comfort stops. Thats alot of stuff to take off if I do it that way. In T 2 it would be a matter of stripping off the bike shorts and swapping shoes...What do you guys think??? |
