I had a great weekend! Spent Saturday with the kids at their swim meet both girls did a great job! Then had my tri on Sunday, Very happy with my time as I took 4 min off from last fall. This tri is held every April and September, so it is my first and last tri of the season. This year was cold, windy and wet! Last fall was just a bit windy but no rain and warm. finished 1:29:04 T1 kicked my butt due to having to put layers on, this is a pool swim so I choose to transition in the locker room instead of by my bike since it was raining(thought it would be easier to put the shirt on without the rain pouring on me) so my swim time included the transition time, then put shoes and helmet on at the bike. Lots of gravel and debris on the roads along with them being wet didn't make for the best bike but I still beat my time, but missed my goal of 45 min.. The run was muddy and slippery with lots of hills! Oh so fun...by far my favorite run of any tri I do. wanted 27 min and almost hit it! 27:26! Took 5th in my age but considering there was a pro and an elite that took 1&2nd place I don't feel so bad! Last year for the spring I took 8th with the same 2 taking top 2.
Over all very happy with my race! My oldest and 3rd daughters also raced and Tara(14) took 2nd in her age. Brenna finished 7th. Very proud of us all!

wgraves7582 - 2010-04-26 9:08 AM A picture from our camping/biking trip last week.  I wish I could say he could ride the stones but he was too worried - I did but biffed it on the roots climbing out of it though - that is why he stopped and walked I think

Looks beautiful. Wish we had some open trails close by.

Good morning, William!  It appears as though you survived the dreaded early morning Monday meeting!!!

Luckily it was short and painless!  But still why would you schedule a meeting for 8:30 on a Monday??????????????

That is wrong on all levels!

Our east coast office used to schedule 8:30 meetings. Didn't go over too well with us guys out west.

Kim -- CONGRATS to you and your girls on a great race!  Great way to kick off the season, even though the weather wasn't ideal.

Google maps now has a beta program for biking directions.  I needed to send them an email to amend the directions...one of the streets has become a barricaded dead end with a very steep slope covered in blackberries before starting up again  Not the best biking option...or driving option for that matter.

Yeah but the blackberries would be wonderful.

I got in my lunchtime swim... pool was a little crowded, which is unusual.  This was my first time doing kick and pull drills.  Those really suck the energy out of you, huh?  It felt good to get a double workout day in on a Monday.  Another double lined up for tomorrow.

Mel, great job on the commute... nothing wrong with a little blackberry snack mid-way through your workout.  Next time, remember to bring a little yogurt with you!

except that it was all brambles, no berries.  Maybe in July...
