We had heavy rains this afternoon. I had to run through a wall of water to get out of my building and into my car. Then 3 times on the way home I had to drive through the water running over the road that they tell you not to drive through. After the first 2 times, which were close together, I almost rearended an SUV because I couldn't get my car to stop, the brakes weren't working well. I also almost got rearended myself. Once I got off of that road I had to drive around a tree down on another road. I don't like adventure when I'm driving my car.

No run this evening, either. They are calling for more storms. I was just out with the dogs and it is getting dark again and I could hear thunder. I might spend some time on the trainer, or just take it as a rest before I get seriously into running.

Aaack!  The "R" word!

Holy smoley that was a looooong day of work!

So I work for a chemical manufacturing company.  Our biggest raw material is water.  It is a component in about 50% of our products and is used to test the other 50%.  We put the water that we get from the city through a deionization/purification process before we use it.  Well, the city water has been compromised by the flooding and whatever crap is in there now has completely taxed our purification system.  I spent the better part of 12 hours today trying to figure out how to make water with the desired quality and on the scale that we need with no success.  My brain hurts now. 

One more day in the lab. I spent the afternoon proof-reading a the MSc. student's thesis on the effect of salt on kidney injury in rats with the comorbidities of diabetes and hypertension. Note: Salt is not good for diabetics with hypertension.

Went to get some thank you cards, now to write in them. Wow summer went fast.

So tonight is an "exciting" one on the west coast. A ship full of people claiming refugee status just landed in port. Over 1000 I think and many are thought to be Tamil Tigers. Oh ya. This should be interesting...

I am of no help. I could only tell you what could possibly be in that water and what it would do to you if you ingest it before purification.

That's better than me.  I could only tell you if it tasted bad or not.

Day 2 of my brick workouts is in the book and I'm beat.  Why I didn't start these long ago, I have no idea.
