Ran 11 miles on the treadmill this morning. This sucked much worse than I thought it would. Felt good in the first three miles so of course, like an idiot, I kicked up the speed. Payed for it the last 4 miles. I really should have ran outside today but just couldn't get myself to get all the outdoor in the cold running gear together.

It is slightly funny that your choice was so much harder then getting your gear for cold weather running.   Awesome job, that takes a lot of mental fortitude to stick it out

Yea, bad decision on my part. By the time I left it was sunny, beautiful,no wind and about 32 degrees out. I just grumbled and called myself an idiot. It was kind of funny when the lady who walked by me towards the end and did a double take. She stops and asks if I had been running the whole time. Mentioned she was running behind me before her hour long class and now after the class and after stretching I was still going. For the life of me I couldn't come up with a witty response.

Hey  gang! Been down and out for awhile. Trying to beat the flu symptoms I got around the super bowl. Just have a cough I can't quite shake. Depressing I tell ya. Got in my first run in awhile yesterday. I will try to get in the groove soon.

golfpro - 2012-02-18 8:06 AMRudy- like everyone said, impressive numbers. Did I read that correctly, you did the 5' test followed by the 20' test? Same day, same hour time frame?

yeah, it was all part of the same test, they have you do some quick stuff 2-3 ints with increasing cadence and then a 5 min effort then 5 min rest then 20min test. I used the numbers for the 5min effort for my 5min power.

Thomas, Glad you are feeling better, everytime i turn around, someone i know is sick, it is really getting around this year!!

Hey Gang,

I want to do a FTP test on the bike, but I have not done a lot of intensity work these past months.  I have only started doing some intensity on the bike last week.

Do you think I should do a few weeks of intensity work fist prior to doing the FTP test?

How much rest or easy days should I take prior to the test?

Thanks

Keep the intensity low until you completely shake that cough.  You'd hate to get a relapse.  Get well!

Fred D - 2012-02-19 3:44 AM Slow recovery from the injection and being up all night Friday. Honestly with my job Im actually amazed that I have been able to do reasonably well at tri's because of the toll it takes on my system. Not making excuses, but rather pleased that somehow I have done it and find lots of time for the family. We all have limiters, ALL of us, just exposing mine.

Do you have to be completely pain free before you start up again or just wait the full week?

If I think to Jorge's program he has folks do two weeks with intensity before he tests if I recall.  Mostly to get the legs and body ready for it.

long run today.  I was getting pretty hungry towards the end of my run.  Walked into the house to the smell of fresh baked cookies.

Morning all.

Started this morning with an utter fail of a workout. Meant to have done 2x20' @ 100-105% HR on the bike this morning but could only manage 2' of the second 20! Bit undecided if I'll try again tomorrow or not as it's meant to be an unload week to prepare for a test session next Monday.

On another note, swim workout on Sunday had me doing some sets at T-Pace +:03. How are you supposed to judge how much to slow down by to only add 3 secs to your 100m times? I was pretty much spot on target for the sets @ T-Pace but anything up to 6 secs off on the +:03's.
