Why is basic logic so hard for some people (especially non-engineers/scientists) to understand/follow?  Serious question...Any TAN thoughts?

On another note, I have a chocolate chip clif bar for after lunch snack.  Friday is good.

lots of engineers lack a logical thought process, actually.

Good point..I shouldnt lump people into a bucket.  Still my question stands.  What makes following an A to Z roadmap difficult for so many?

Because they are allowed to go with thinking with emotion instead of with logic.

It does induce consternation from time to time though... OK it drives me up a flippin wall from time to time.

because everyone has their own path to get from A to Z, and you might not be communicating your path very well to them

The latest one I saw was a Some A are B and some C are B therefore all C are A argument posted by one of my friends.  That is not a path from a to z it is just not even bothering to think in a critical or logical fashion about an argument.

That's SO true.  It's painful to read reports with no logical order...  Especially when you reference data...  It seems obvious TO ME, that the order you reference your data, should be the same order it's placed in the appendix (simple things like that).

It's agonizing to see someone pull a number and have to search 3 days in the appendix for where it came from - and when you don't find it?  I used to get MAD at people that worked for me and say if I can't figure it out and it's our project, how is some city/county reviewer going to figure it out when it's the first they see the project?

Summary sheets are your friend, BTW.  Time consuming to write but usefull.  Besides, if you spoon feed the reviewers, they just look at that and don't get into the guts of the report and make comments on that...  Saves you lots of work in the long run.

I'm not sure if I can explain it well.  And it may be type of engineering dependant...

But it seems a LOT focus on numbers/equations but can't "see" it in their heads, if that makes sense.  It may be common in the more visual forms of engineering (civil, mechanical)...  I have gotten into many a heated arguement (and don't ever remember losing) but need to prove it with pictures or models.  They just don't see it.

Even though I'm sure computer engineers or progamers can "see" what the code will produce before it's even writen and such.

I heard Stephen Hawking can see a rendering/picture of his complex mathamatical equations in his head.  That to me, is impressive.

yay friday!!  A whole weekend to myself!!

I might be cranky, but I'm already angry about the weekend...

Lots of training to get in and I have to work on my brother's house as a favor (that's a WHOLE other area of contention).  Hell, I have my own house to repair and don't have the time and now I have to work on my brother's?

The wife works all weekend, so no joy there...

Nothing to look forward to, I guess is what I'm trying to say.

Not really.  Nor do I want to tie anyone up...

But bend them over and pull their hair?  I can do that.

Thanks for the reminder though.  I forgot about that.

Tons of wild flowers, and the tide pools are super cool (if you are into those things), there is an old stone lighthouse.
