joemac3 - 2008-10-22 3:15 AM in response to the cabana boy offering suggestions of things to mix with your chi tea I recommend... amaretto or cinnamon schnapps or kahalua or you could also take any one of these and splash a little chocolate liquor oh... maybe a splash of grand mariner as far as whiskey or scotch goes I would choose a nice smooth scotch that has been aged a little while. those are just my suggestions

Wow, you're the best! I forgot about Amaretto - I *heart* Amaretto! And good whiskey, mmmmm!

I had a dog in college named Kahlua!!! Then, I briefly had a dog named Bailey....but, she had to go back due to heart problems. So, we didn't want to use that name again. Our current dogs (2 golden retrievers) are named after sports people...Kobe and Reggie!

I might have the same issues!!!

I worked with a vet nurse whos dog was called Kahlua LOL!

starrlinda - 2008-10-22 4:59 AM I ran on the dreadmill this morning and when I logged my run I noticed my total mileage for 2008 is 999.99!!!! I think I will have to play all nines in the lottery!

Wow, awesome, thats a lot of running! Well done!

Hi team, no running for me this morning, I went for a cycle instead. It was lovely and cool, but quite muggy so I was glad to be out on the bike and not running.

Its not too busy at work today - we've been pretty quiet this month, I'm not sure why, probably something to do with the economic recession???

I might get a chance to pop home for a few hours today, that'll be nice

Mila, will you be contributing those pumpkin squares to the fire squad of your choice? Because there's a fire squad I could help you choose...

Vampies, I'm an idiot.

I went to ride my bike trainer last night, and got out my new bike pump. It's a cheaper one, but it's a Pedros, and a LOT better than what I had been using. But the seal on the valve was so tight I couldn't get the stinking thing off. I wriggled. I twisted. I tore my tube - and I had no spares. DRAT!

But, the really good news is that I got my lazy bum-bum out of bed this morning and went swimming. There was only one other person there -- and he was wearing regular beach swim trunks. And he lapped me. Bad. Oh, well!

The other good news is that I figured out a swim stroke weakness I can work on. My left side (dominant side) is just not catching the water right. I can feel it in the fist drill. Not quite sure how to fix it, but at least I know it's off.

Would one of those pull paddles help with feeling the water?

That made me laugh! I love it when the seniors lap me! Nothing more funny than the old ladies cruising past me!

I've got 3 miles on tap for today and then some swimming and then some weights. I think. At least the run. Gotta stop eating and start training more. I'm worried I'll pack on some pounds this off season. Eek!

Had conferences today at the school. Went okay. Oldest and youngest are golden. Middle...not so much. I don't get it. Same gene pool yet super different. Oldest and youngest are VERY similar but Cole is just WAY different. Don't get me wrong, I am okay with different but I don't see why he has to have all the issues! At least spread them out between the three kids! Nope, poor Cole gets dumped on. He is going to be evaluated by the OT. His fine motor skillz suck. Gotta get his hearing checked again. For like the 10th time. He fails every time but not by enough. They always tell me to come back in 6 months. I am tired of it! Give me some answers. Why does he keep failing???? Why won't you fix the problem?? What is the problem??? I can't get anyone to listen to my concerns in the audiology department. GRRR! I am almost at a loss of what to do. I guess it's time to start demanding second and third opinions. Why do I have to fight to get answers for my child????

Rant over. Thanks for listening! I feel a bit better.

Oh my gosh that is too funny!!! What a cutie.

My cat found a pink straw today. He was carrying it around and batting it around for hours and then curled up and went to sleep with the straw by his side, like it was his security blanket or something.

That's really frustrating. Sorry you have to deal with all of that.

You could start by talking to someone who has a background in education and knows the process and governing laws with regard to this sort of thing. It might not provide specific answers but it could point you in the right direction and help guide you through all the educational jargon... or at the very least be a good sounding board.

Hey, so did you guys know that I used to be a teacher and a principal and a professor of special education and that I have my own consulting business whereby I do advocacy for parents of special needs kids, provide direct service to kids and facilitate teacher training workshops?

Thanks mila! It's not so much the school part, Cole's teacher is beyond great. She identified his OT issues even before I mentioned them (it's been an ongoing problem). It is the military medical people I have to deal with in audiology. They are used to examining sailors, not a 5 year old boy who doesn't want to cooperate with them. His pediatrition isn't super great either. We've seen two ENT's. One told me to get him evaluated for Asberger's (dude, you are and ENT, not a developmental ped. We've seen the developmental ped already. Thanks) The other ENT was just wierd. Time for another visit to the pediatrition for a referal for yet another ENT. Or better yet, a pediatric audiologist! That would be great. In fact, I'm gonna go make an appt right now with the doc.

ETA: appt tomorrow at 9:20. Wish me luck.

Gotchya... so glad his teacher is on top of it, then, that makes a HUGE difference! With that said... if there is a concern that the hearing, even if it's not "enough of a failure", is causing an educational impact and the school is bringing it to your attention I would have a few questions about that. Does the school system not have an audiologist on staff that an provide the hearing test (though if the system doesn't have a soundproof booth, which many don't, I wouldn't recommend going that route)?

Come to Atlanta... I have a great ENT for you .

Good!!! So glad they could get you in right away. I hope it goes well and you can get some answers soon. I have a little one who is a "failure to thrive" baby... he's pretty much a medical mystery and it's incredibly frustrating to have to wait for various appointments.
