I made it home safely again tonight... even though the wind wanted me to stay where I was. That was a HORRIBLE ride... 21 km ... all into the wind, and with many uphills. You know you're having a bad ride when the downhills are hard work too. That is one of my slower rides in a long time.... not sure I'm going to be recovered enough in the morning to do it one more time. All that matters is that you are safe............the rest is gravy right? |

CLOSED tryin2tri - 2010-03-19 10:57 AM Ok, I hate sharing a lane at the pool.  I want a lane all-to-myself!  I'm not a fast swimmer but I'm not standing still either and when I'm there to swim laps or time myself I don't want to be waiting for Mr. Sunday Drive to get his freaking finger out of his nose and SWIM!  K- I'm done my rant lol. Jessie i have only done one pool tri,,,,but everyone had their own lane.......seems silly otherwise!! |

Rebecca, hope you are able to relax a little now that its over! I did a 50 mile ride of hills yesterday. It was awesome. The weather has been great and I was able to ride in shorts! Today is the Tri Expo in Boston. I am hoping to go and look around. Tommorow is a BT group training. We are going to do our first OWS of the season!!!The ice is melted. Hope to be able to swim longer than 5 minutes!!!! I was supposed to do an indoor tri today( I have never done one) but I am skipping it because the weather is too nice to be stuck inside!!! Hope you all have a great weekend! |

I participated in "The Ride" Fundraiser today. I think our team came in 4th. I had a goal of making 12 miles in the 25 minute time. I made it to 12.3. Missed first in my heat by 2 tenths. Oh well. It was for a good cause. S Suppose to get in a 35 miler on the bike tomorrow. It's snowing again, so it looks like a trainer ride. Kelly

| Veteran 120 Polar Bear Alley | Subject: RE: Come and play with aquagirl and mav ! CLOSED So I went to my LBS today...all I can say is WOW.  They've got every single thing you might possibly need for a triathlon except running shoes.  The guy there was extremely knowledgable and I let him know that I was totally new and he took me through everything.  Showed me lots of stuff, explained lots etc.  He showed me one bike that was a good entry level bike (cervelo) that could be both a road & a tri bike by how you flip the seat, then told me the price.  Well that was depressing.  I think he could tell that I was a bit bummed lol.  So as he was showing me other things he had this "ah ha" moment I guess and said he could make me a bike because he had a couple frames that he was thinking of clearing out, AND that he could cut me a pretty good deal.  So he showed me the frame which was an Orbea (looks like red/orange/white flame job) and said for xxxx he could build me one of the most awsome bikes ever...soooooo I bought a new bike Actually, I'm making installment payments on it and I believe it should officially be mine by beginning-mid May.  May would be a good month to get it in because snow isn't really gone until June here.  It will probably end up costing me more than the cervelo he showed me but it looks soooo cool...I'm already trying to think of a name for my new bike.  So excited about it but DANG bikes are expensive!  Nevermind all the other things like helmet, shoes, cadence monitor, etc. etc. |

| Uxbridge | Subject: RE: Come and play with aquagirl and mav ! CLOSED Jesse, CONGRATS on the new bike! may you have many happy miles together!!!!! Rebecca...so sorry its not over yet. At least you have had a few workouts to help relieve the stress. I could never do your job! Went to the multisport Expo yesterday. ALot of different tri vendors and race directors pedaling their wares! It was interesting. I didnt go to any of the seminars but Marmadaddy said that all the seminars were videotaped and would be posted here on BT. This was great news as I had to work and couldnt attend any of them "live". I am sure it will be worthwhile to watch them. First OWS of the season if I am brave enough to test the waters!!! It has been very warm the past few days but today is rather chilly. I'll let ya know. Enjoy!!! |

Word of advice though.....do NOT try and make up for lost ground by jumping into higher volume than you are prepared for. Classic mistake. One could very well leave you injured..........

Even though it was the most beautiful day... my body refused to cooperate. The thought of getting on the bike was most definitely in my head. In the evening, Sweetums had arranged for us to meet up with friends for some drinks. We ended up in the hot tub (aaaaaaaaaahhhhh), relaxing and chatting for hours (not in the hot tub), and didn't get home until well after 3 a.m. It was a really good rest day. :D Today... I am not sure anything will happen. I have many errands to run... and Sweetums is working evenings this weekend. Looks like a hippie dippie training weekend for me. Kevin, sounds like a way fun weekend!! Hippie dippie huh? Now gee who does that sound like.......... |

CLOSED Congrats on the bike Jesse.  It's funny how we still feel like a kid when we get a new one.  Glad to see you back Gary. I rode for 35 miles today. I think I made need to invest in a women's saddle. We used one yesterday and I thought it was more comfortable than mine. Thanks for the compliments. Keep in mind that the trainers were set for us to be able to go fast. That distance was right around where most top women competitors were reaching. Kelly |
