Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED Same here! I will be Tivo-ing it! I wasn't able to watch 2009 yesterday, so I'll have to fit it in with the Ironman Wisconsin and another one--cant remember which right now--anyway, their both taped from this year, so it should be interesting! I decided on my first Olympic distance tri!!! It will be the Folsom Olympic in mid-August! I'm so excited! I actually cut back on the amount I had planned on doing, (it was going to be one tri each month starting Feb!) Basically now I will be doing a 5k this month, a 5k in Dec, a 10k in February, a 'Dirty' (i.e. mountain bike) duathlon in March, the X-terra tri(1st) and an obstacle race(29th) in April, the Auburn Sprint Tri in May, nothing in June or July, the Folsom Oly. in August, and the Luna Tri in September! Although, I may fit a sprint tri in mid June, just for training purposes! As for tonight, I hit the gym for some running and weights--2.5 Miles, and countless pounds lifted! I am feeling good....but kinda hungry...I think I'll go eat now! |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED I don't know if its on any other carriers, but we have Directv (LOVE THEM, their service has been amazing for nearly 10 years!!!!); its on their sports pack---Universal Sports Network is the channel--they have a bunch of different stuff, from world cup rugby to cycling, adventure racing, and gymnastics....It helps that I just go to the nifty "search" function on our menu screen and type in 'triathlon'--it finds all sorts of nifty stuff, and I can set it to tape all of them! |

I'm going to do a turkey trot on 11/24 and then a "Freeze" series in January. It's a 10k every Saturday and boy it does get cold! |

Master 1471 Dunedin | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED Not sure why the link didn't work, I'll have to check it out when I'm on the home computer since YouTube is blocked at work. If you're interested in trying to search it, it's freestyle technique by Gary Hall, Sr with The Race Club. |

Master 1471 Dunedin | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED Had masters swimming today... I hit a 1:21, 1:19 then 1:17 for my 100 yd freestyle set! WAHOO! The coach says I should be able to hit 1:15 for 100 free. It's a good goal to shoot for! |

Extreme Veteran 746 | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED Congrats on the swimming times Sara. And finally I'm back. Got 2.55 miles (including .04 miles running barefoot for a bus) in the last 2 days and although I was slow today I didn't really feel breathless during the walking (1.33 miles because our buses suck on a sunday) and was only slightly breathless after the running - which went away as soon as I took the inhaler which I hadn't had since getting up that morning.

Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED I'll have to check the video later. I have been a total slacker with my swim & bike lately. And now.... knee injury! Started last Sunday after I did the 7 mile run. Its been painful, particularly when driving. Excruciating at times. I've started icing it, and that helps. I'm taking a few days off from running to see how it goes. I'm also thinking the marathon in late Feb is out the window as I'm going to miss nearly 2 weeks of training due to this. Maybe I'll downshift to the half marathon the same day. I'm also taking this slow as I don't want it to linger. I have big plans for next year. I'm hoping its OK by next week - don't want to miss the local turkey trot! |

Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED Knee update -- its been a solid 5 days of inactivity/rest for it and its feeling better. Still a bit sore, but some ice on it helps quite a bit. Will likely try a run on Friday assuming it keeps getting better. Fingers crossed |

Master 3195 Just South of Boston | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED Thanks for the good karma thoughts, but I've decided I need it checked out. Off to he ortho doc & MRI guy on Monday AM. Will spend the weekend w/o any activity. Knee still painful. Worst is the ligament where the quads meet the knee/kneecap. Can't drive for more than 30 minutes w/o major pain. Not very good when I have a 45 min commute.... |

Extreme Veteran 746 | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED Mike - sorry about your knee. Hope it at least lets you drive a full commute soon if nothing else. Me - got in a short bike ride today - 16:47 (min:sec) 1.5 miles (5.36 mph) on a slightly hillish route - amazed the girls I baby sat the other night could make it when I'd finished, lol (well 1 did have to walk for a bit but the other soldiered on like it was flat) - and I've created an actual training plan starting this sunday. You should be able to see it if you look at the "planned" stuff on my log. It's very low mileage but: I'm going to do the running for time - I put in 20 m/m and I'm usually 19:xx when I run/walk and can get faster depending on the day - I'll be doing general walk workouts this week as a prep |

I'm also looking to add the yoga back in plus get a beginners pilates dvd to use for ST but I haven't decided what days that will be on. Depends what sort of hours I get when I find a new job or when I get put back on the roster at my current place. I'm still aiming to do my tri at the end of March at the same place as the one I was going to hit for November |

Extreme Veteran 746 | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED Sorry for the double post but I was trying to add the extra details when I somehow set it to post the first time. Anyway I have a question on setting up "planned" workouts. I've set up a plan with swim, bike, run data but it has no ST/sports data - is there a way to put them in the "planned" workouts without using a pre-designed plan? |

Expert 1051 San Jose | Subject: RE: Sink or SWIM! with WittyCityGirl - CLOSED I signed up for IMAZ!!!!! It should be a very fun year The best part was I volunteered in the registration tent Saturday for this years athlete's who wanted to register for next year. After they trained us, they has us register ourselves for practice before they let people in. Some friends were in line until 11:00 Monday morning and got in, then registration opened online and sold out in 10 min! I think we're all nuts! So in my wanderings during the race, I saw a couple sitting that were wearing Bloome County Tro Club shirts. Sara had mentioned that she knew some people racing so I asked this couple if they knew her and they did! The gal took a picture of us together and texted it to Sara. It's a very small world! I started a blog just for fun: http://doingwhatilikelikingwhatido.blogspot.com/ Happy Thanksgiving! Johanne |
