The are aphids too-they are just skeletons of their former selves. They have been parasitized by a aphidiid wasp...it laid an egg inside it, which became a larvae who ate the aphid alive from the inside...the larvae then pupates and bores it's way out of the aphid's exoskeleton as an adult...then goes forth and parasitizes hundreds of aphids every day. Yep, those aphids are all goners.
Actually.... that was pretty interesting... |
