10 days down  9:16:54.

Yes, I'm noticing that I'm not as tired as I thought I would be without rest days.

Chris,  On your question about 3 separate run workouts.  One time I noticed that Ernesto did that, so I thought that was what I was supposed to do.  Especially since I walk for 15 min before and after the actual running part.  I just figured out the lap button a few days before you asked about it.

Yes, it is a good idea when you warm up walking (or jogging slowly), this way it will not skew your running pace and you will know it better.

I get it now. That way you don't have to dig into your lap data to see your average pace during the real run portion. I knew I was missing something.

Today: 30 minute run, 3.45 miles

Totals:  11 days; 08:14:03

Planned on doing a spin class today before my run - decided not to based on training plan for Thanksgiving day 10-K...did not want to trash legs before weekend runs (Tempo run on Sunday). I am noticing that in the last week I am able to run a materially faster pace while keeping my HR in zone 2.  Also, noticing that legs are adapting well to the frequency of workouts.  It's all good!

Anyone use the Sufferfest cycling videos?  I read about them the other day and I am intrigued.

Here's today's numbers so far:

Chris 11 days 13:20'19" (new leader)

Mark 11 days 12:44'30"

Gabe 11 days 10:37'34"

Me 11 days 9:16'54"

Mitch 11 days 8:14'03"

Jackie 10 days 9:16'54"

Barry 10 days 8:34'42"

Of course, Jackie and Barry may not be up to date. Curiously, my total in hours, mins and seconds is EXACTLY the same as Jackie's yesterday. Big coincidence, huh?

Today: 7 mile run; 01:01:30

Totals: 12 days; 09:15:33

Note: Quite possibly my best raining run ever - Polar tracks a number called your running index which analyzes your pace versus hr versus a VO2 max number.  Today's index # was a 57 - I don't think I have ever seen a number that high.  Usually at best a 54.  Pretty stoked.

I always thought that your biggest issue is inconsistency with the training, maybe this is what you needed. But don't overdo it Mitch. Thirty minutes is all you need, things will get a little tougher in a few days. At the end of the month though, your body will be very well adapted and every workout will be a breeze.

Today I did a stupid tough, very windy (25mph sustained) and hilly ride with the group. Felt good to know I can still push a bike after so long.

Today 3:25'50" 58.81 miles. Total is 12 days, 12:50'54".

I'm going out for a bike ride for two reasons.

1) It's nice outside. 64 degrees. Won't be like this for long here.

2) Mark did a 3 hour bike ride and Ernesto did a 3:25.

Man are you competitive or what? That's awesome. Enjoy the great outdoors while you can. You should really think about a Computrainer Chris.

Yes it was wi-in-in-in-dy on the bike today.  35 miles felt like 50.  And tomorrow is 10 mile run day.  I can hardly wait!

Here's today's numbers with everybody at twelve days:

Mark 15:44'30"

Chris 15:35'23"

Jackie 13:20'07"

Ernesto 12:50'54"

Gabe 12:12'49"

Barry 11:16'53"

Mitch 9:15'33"

Everybody is doing AWESOME, I love it. I'm proud of being part of this group of commited individuals!

Also, keep in mind that the hours are really secondary, the biggest thing is training consistency and frequency which everybody is doing to perfection.

Serious question: How do you guys spend so much time on the bike?

And by "How do you guys...", I mean "How do you guys ...", not "How do you all spend so much time on the bike?"

I've spent 4 hours and 15 minutes on the bike since Monday night. My "guys" aren't that happy.

Hey everyone.  It seems as though I have dropped off the face of the Earth.  Last month my son had a concussion that was pretty severe and training was put on hold.  I see I have missed the last 10 plus pages, so I have some catching up to do.

Well, I am back training again.  Still working on building me aerobic base.  My husband Scott is joining us as well.  Ernesto said to have him join to help with any insite he may have.  He has been racing for years but I finally got him to start training with MAF during the off season.

Miss you guys and I will start catching up tonight get back in the thread!!

Hello everyone...I'm Jennie's husband, Scott.  Hopefully I can contribute as much to the forum as I hope to learn.  I've been running since 1988 and I started doing triathlons in 2006, so I have some amount of experience although not all of it is good.  At the very least I have a lot of experience in what not to do.  I've run races from 1 mile up to the marathon and have done sprint triathlons up to full IM distance races.

I'm currently in an aerobic base building phase to prepare for a spring 10k and a fall half IM.  I haven't trained with a heart monitor since the mid 1990s, so it has taken some getting used to.  I'm seeing some improvement since I started in late July, but it's hard to tell how much improvement is due to getting in shape and how much is due to the temperature going down.

Chris,

There are only two potential cures to saddle discomfort that I'm aware of:  1) look into a new saddle or 2) more hours on the bike.
