jarvy01 - 2013-02-07 7:56 AM I am exhausted.  IV bag of caffeine for the day?  Yup, I need that.

For real.  I got in my tempo run this morning and have a trainer ride with tabatas later.  Me and the trainer are going to become VERY familiar with each other over the next few months.

You and your trainer are going to become very good buddies once Quinn is here.

In other news we may be adding naother fur baby to the family.  Logan in a 6 year old corgi that was abandonned when his family moved.  Just filled out our adoption application and I'm hoping to meet him this afternoon.  He's at a kill shelter so time is of the essence.

The only picture I have of him is sad because he looks so scared at the shelter.  Not much history, he's fixed, has a cherry eye that needs some vet attention and is a little shy.  I would like to take Abbey with me to meet him but shelters freak her out (she came from a kill shelter as well) so I don't want two high stress dogs meeting for the first time.

I cannot stand to see a hurt or scared animal.  I've always had a super soft spot for fur babies.

OK, you just won me over!  I have four rescued dogs (1 was adopted), 5 rescued cats, and 3 adopted ferrets (and other critters).

luv2bhealthy - 2013-02-06 4:58 PM Well, just signed up for my first Oly on April 28.  I know it's not a big thing for those who do or are doing HIM, but it's a big step for me.

It's big.  It's the most painful jump out there IMO

Thanks!  Now you're scaring me!  Sealed  Why is it the most painful jump?

carrie639 - 2013-02-07 9:06 AMJen toss the negatives ... you have been doing a ton of strength training, if I have seen your logs correctly.  Some of the weight gain is muscle gain.  You are gaining in performance and as long as you feel better (other than looking at the scale) that is whats important.
X2 on this. Don't forget muscle ways twice as much as fat. I say toss the scale too!

Double the swim, bike is longer but still not a ton of pacing, and the 10k is everything you've got.  You go from what an hour to hour and a half with the hammer down the whole time to 2.5-3 with the hammer down pretty much the whole time.  At least in Iron distance events you pace things out.

Which Oly are you doing?

Just erasing the doubt and conquering the distance and knowing my training got me there. It was a huge lift for me going into this season and the next challenges ahead.

Me too, all my babies are adopted!  My female lab, Bella was dumped off 1 week before giving birth.  I was only adopting her, however, my Mother, a softie as well, talked me into taking the last puppy in the litter .. So now I have Briggs and Bella, mom and pup and it has been awesome!  Oh, and can't forget the cat named Tag!

In my dreams!!!!  You are a young man; I, on the other hand, am a 52 year old late blooming athlete.  The first sprint that I completed last year has an olympic bike ride.  The swim was an 880 and then the 5k.  I came in last, but I was glad to have done it and finish.  That was my goal.  The other two sprints I did last year were better.  And I didn't come in last place in the USAT rankings.  My goal with this new challenge is to finish.  I'm not too worried about the bike and run.  Just did the equivalent of an Oly this past weekend. That's why I signed up for the April Oly. Now, I need to get in the pool.  I am doing the Spring Fall Classic at Lake Tawakoni on 4/28.  That was my first sprint last year.  This is their first Oly.

I generally listen to Texas Country/Red Dirt Music.  Also I don't like to get too hyped up.  I do that just fine on my own:

1.  The Road Goes on Forever by Robert Earl Keen

2. Crazy Eddie's Last Hurrah  by Reckless Kelly

3. Hammer Down by Cross Canadian Ragweed

4. Bread and Water by Ryan Bingham.

5. Wanna Rock and Roll by Ray Wylie Hubbard

I'm cute?

At Poconos I made him listen to 1D at 3:30 a.m. as we drove to the race site.  He was trooper (even after the 5th time I put "Stand Up" on repeat).

I listen to alt/alt rock. Sometimes I will put pop songs on a race playlist to mix it up.

Some that always seem to make it on:

1. Heads Will Roll - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
2. Army of Me - Bjork
3. Let Go - Frou Frou
4. Sail - AWOL Nation
5. Smack my B Up - Prodigy

Right now I am loving Imagine Dragons, and the song Radioactive is at the top of my playlist, as is anything by Florence and the Machine.

Flo and the Machine is great, and just started listening to Imagine Dragons. 1D Shaun? Seriously???? No invites to poker if you're bringing 1D with you!
