Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm a contract analyst for a seven hospital system. I do a lot of compliance work regarding physician contracts and real estate. When the CFOs want to hire a physician, the contracts end up with me and I review their correctness and set a risk level for the CFOs to make a decision on. I also help manage the network's real estate, and am taking on responsibilities for managing one of the network's larger office buildings. |

Well, it would be nice if we were having halfway normal temperatures. I know that would improve my mood! Hang in there! Thank you. The huge temperature shifts are definitely not helping anything. We're getting the rain you guys had yesterday. Ugh...so hard to get out of bed this morning! Grey days always make me want to sleep in. Maybe I should get out my phototherapy light and see if that helps. |

Last week, I started training for Big Sur 9 mile. I hired a personal trainer to help with the strength stuff and weight loss efforts. I gave up sweetners/sugar on Ash Wednesday (so almost 2 weeks) and have been eating fairly healthy (wine on the weekends, but that was really it for slips). By Friday, I felt like crap. Totally fatigued, sick, sore, etc... I talked to cutie patootie trainer guy and he suggested that I drop to the beginner running program for a couple of weeks until my body adjusts to moving regularly. I did that and it does seem more doable. Now for the freak out, my weight has SKYROCKETED!!! I am up 5lbs since Friday, when the fatigue started. I am scary close to a decade I have NEVER seen, even 9 months pregnant. Already have the sweetners gone, so today, I go full on primal. Is there anything else I can do? Where is this gain coming from? It can't be muscle, its only been a week. I was able to find a dress for my step-daughter's wedding that has a long black skirt to cover all the dimples and dents. I couldn't believe that in 1 month since I have shopped, my size has gone up again. This is unreal. I am the incredible, enlarging woman. Must stop this. Suggestions? Honestly, my best guess for what's going on is PMS. Not sure if that's a possibility or not. I know I get really tired and my weight shoots up in the same way. My best advice would be to drink lots of water, eat tons of veggies, and make sure you aren't eating more calories than you think. Logging strictly always helps me. |

We may have covered this in the beginning, but I'm lost at this point. What does everyone do for a living? I'll start this out. I am the DBA/Sr. System Analyst/Data Processing Manager at a small multi bank holding company. This entails overseeing the team that is processing all of the checks and electronic payments for the banks, maintaining integrity of all databases (SQL) and keeping 3 or 4 primary Info Systems running properly. I have a background in management, IT, and, oddly enough, cooking (we owned a small diner for 10 years). OK, what about the rest of you???? I'm a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at a Medical Center attached to a University here in Richmond. Basically, I finished my PhD 1.5 years ago and am working on transitioning from student to independent investigator. If I wanted to stay in academia the next step would be junior professor. I don't think I do and I'll probably switch to industry when i find a job. Anyway, I work in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Department. I do research on gene expression in the right ventricle that leads to heart failure in pulmonary hypertension. Basically, trying to find what genes turn on or off when patients switch from being ok with the disease to having heart failure. We identified some (that was my PhD work) and now I am looking at how those genes change with different drug treatments. It's really interesting work! If you really want, you can check out my publications here |

Everything was going smoothly until I was almost home and my boss text me that he left his notebook in my car. So I figure I'll go home and grab my gym stuff then drop off his folder and go to the gym near the Albuquerque office. Again, the plan was running smoothly until I get in to the locker room and realize I've brought everything but my swim suit. Now, mind you, I missed my swim on Friday because the pool closed and didn't fit it in this weekend, in spite of my best efforts. So I said to my self "Self?", I said "yes?", I said "what would the Manatees do". Well of course skinny dipping was out of the question Good thinking there Manatee! Love this story... Your coaching is one of the reasons I decided to HTFU and do it, sans swimsuit |
