Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() David_Zen - 2011-10-31 11:43 AM Kathy, good to know that Rina was a nonevent. My long bike ride was great. I ended up doing 112 miles in 5 hrs and 56 mins. I felt great up until last night when I started coming down with a cold. This morning has been worse with sinus congestion, sneezing and runny nose. Maybe yesterday's swim wasn't a good idea. I was planning my long run for tonight but not sure if I will do it feeling like this. under 6...sweet good luck with the cold |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry about the cold, that sucks!I can tell we are not too far away now. These heavy weeks just about do me in, it is the "I'm too tired to do anything but work and working out" feeling. Not for much longer now...then we race! I am so excited the more I read about the race, and talking to people who have been to Cozumel! Happy Tuesday ![]() |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() How's the training going, everybody? I had a serious case of the "I don't want to train anymore"s over past few days but woke up today with a better attitude...another big weekend coming up! |
![]() ![]() |
Member![]() ![]() | ![]() I've been sick the past 10 days which has been a huge problem. I did a 100 mile ride yesterday which was a mixed bag. I got through it and learned a lot about my nutrition which was good. But, on the bad side, I had some pretty good knee/IT band pain for the first time all year. That concerns me quite a bit. This is going to be really hard. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Training is going well, getting all my last minute travel plans squared away, and as much biking in as I can before I drop off my bike on 11/14. I am a bit nervous, but that is to be expected....felt this way before CdA too. The "OMG I didn't train enough, and it is going to be a crap race" kind of feeling, but I know that is just fatigue and nerves. Hope everyone is staying healthy and is excited for this IM!! I know I am |

I had a serious case of the "I don't want to train anymore"s over past few days but woke up today with a better attitude...another big weekend coming up! I just don't want to do another 6-hour bike ride but I'm going to do 2 more. This week I'm going to run 2 hours off it and next week 1.5 or 2 just to nail down nutrition. Well, as best I can. legs are getting really tired and I'm slower on the bike (but purposely, but STILL!!!) but faster in the run. Feels like I'm poking along but all this week I've been PR'ing my runs (which are still super slow). the IM is still going to hurt. Bad. Really, really bad. I've started trying to figure out what I'm going to wear also... Swim will be easy - swim suit but bike, do I go with the mostly white MX jersey or the darker colored (but prettier IMO) MX jersey... And run is totally up in the air. Do I do QRoo colors (blue and orange) or el Tri? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK then - IMFL down - now to concentrate on Cozumel – FL was cold and windy – not as cold as last year but much the wind was killer. Looking forward to some warmth. |

Member![]() ![]() | ![]() Looks like the race numbers are available. It's not up on the front page but, if you go to athlete info and search for your name, you'll see your bib number. This is getting real. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So close to the race and I'm slackibg on training. So hard to stay focused when it is so cold, dark and wet here! |
![]() ![]() |
Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow. I'm tired! More tired than when I was doing the loooong stuff. The quality work really requires focus and energy and takes it out of me. Plus, lots of things going on in life to add a few extra layers! It's all good...getting pretty excited! Stay healthy everyone!! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good news! End of Dengue Carrying Mosquito Breeding Season, Fumigation Efforts Relaxed According to representatives from the Secretary of Health for the state of Quintana Roo, the breeding season of the aedes aegypti mosquito, which is responsible for carrying the Dengue Virus, has finally ended. As a result, much of the intensive fumigation efforts will be relaxed. Last Monday, health workers carried out a street to termonebulización in the downtown areas. Normal fumigation efforts will continue, to control mosquito larva. I've been SO TIRED this week and getting out the door has been harder and harder. I'm hoping that next week's taper (I'm starting taper next week) will refresh my spirit and tired legs.

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great news about the end of the mosquito breeding season. Thanks to the cool weather I suppose. I think my body was wrongly informed by my brain that the taper had started 2 weeks early and so I been having a hard time getting in the last long sessions that I was supposed to. My longest run so far (ever!) has only been about 13.2 miles. This morning I ran 8 miles and it felt like torture to my knees. I think I need new running shoes but that is unlikely to happen. Should I attempt one last long run, maybe 16 miles or 2.5 hrs? I am afraid of what that will do to my knees but I feel like I need to try. Jeez! I'm already crying like a baby and the real fun hasn't even started yet. I am going to take a licking in Cozumel. I just know it. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() If you feel compelled to go long, you could break it up into a morning run of like 90' and evening run of an hour. Or do it over 2 days. Ice, stretch, foam roller. |
