Bunny, your bike IS TOO the sexiest and fastest ... for you! Love thy bike ... she will carry you through things you would have never imagined before, beautiful and wondrous things you so rightfully deserve.

Awww...thanks, Yanti.

I'm a tri virgin, too! Looking to do my first in June or July. I need to actually set a date so that I have something to train for. Does anyone else find their training slacking abit when they aren't training for a race? What do you do for motivation?

Find a race and pay for it!  I am in that position now, just finished a marathon and have a half in a few weeks.  While it is recovery time for me, it keeps me focused on staying active knowing something else is right around the corner.

Sounds like we will be doing our first tri around the same time.  I am doing the Danskin in mid-July. Scared of the swim, but figured with so many women around I will be supported to get through it.

X2!  Once you have made that committent and you wrap your head around the date, you'll be motivated to train consistenly.

I was thinking that might do it. So that's my first goal, find a race and pay for it! Keep y'all posted.

I have a friend that has volunteered as a swim angel at the Danskin tri in the Chicago area - it sounds like they have great water support - so you will be fine

Oh yeah, this is always a great motivator for me, as well.

And about cyclist observation. I'm noticing cyclists differently too. When I'm looking at pictures, or actual riders, the first thing I notice is how aero someone is. I don't even think if it's a he or a she, the second thing to go through my mind is "I wish I had that azz." LOL

I find myself slacking horribly if I don't have something on the schedule AND a plan to follow. You might want to try checking out the challenges out in the forums. I think that Yanti has done some, I never have so can't give you anymore info, but they seem to get people fired up for the month that they are participating.

It's a 2008 Cypress hybrid from Giant, Mila. Not the sexiest or fastest of bikes, but she's my first.

Ohhhh... I dunno... all bikes are sexy as far as I'm concerned!!!!

My friends told me that they knew I was serious about cycling and "this tri thing" (as they affectionately refer to it) when I started noticing the bikes and analyzing the bike fit before noticing the guys on the bikes .

That's funny--I totally assess the bike before the azzezz.  Sick!

I just did my first Challenge (April). I didn’t meet my goals—over shot by quite a bit—but I did train more than I would have had I not been on the Challenge (B-1000 mins, R-55 miles, S-15,700 meters). Met the bike goal but only 75% of the swim and run. It was a good time and a great way to keep track of how close you came to meeting your goals. Also, it showed me how to create realistic goals…life does get in the way more than we expect. I should have left a little buffer zone for life.

I would recommend anyone to participate in one. Great way to meet people and get involved in the BT community. They are staring May Challenges now. Jump in!

The challenges really are a great way to help keep motivated! I am a challenge junkie - haven't missed one since Sept.

Several others in the group have also participated in challenges and I'm sure would echo the motivation factor.

It's also a great way to meet other BT'rs, especially if you end up on a chatty team

There is one starting in May that is a multi - sport one if anyone wants to look into it - which reminds me, I need to set my goals........

Good morning group!  I made it out for a swim but it was very uninspired!  Feeling a bit fatigued and yucky from a bout with IBS.  I have started the meds and am beginning to feel a little better.

Oh and the challenges are a great way to stay motivated. Your team members are strong reminders to get your butt in gear.  I might have to look at the challenges going up for May.  I have quite of bit of travel for that month so it will be even more challenging to meet the goals but it will force me to get out there and do something.

Have a great day everyone, I have real work to get done now.

The Challenges have been a GREAT motivator for me.  Have been on a couple of teams with one of our Mentor Leaders (TinkerBeth aka. LastCall)  She is the best with her inspires and notes to help get you going (of course she can pull out the cattle prod if necessary...don't let the hot legs and the pixie dust fool you

I'm from a running background and I need mucho motivation with getting in the pool.  I love being in the water and was a Life Guard (about 100 years ago) I just have no endurance there.  I know that time in the pool is all that is needed..it is frustrating to know that 50 yards into a pool session I am starting to suck wind even though I can go straight outside and bike 20-25 miles or run 6-8 without much problem.  Oh well...this too shall pass.

I'm another fan of the monthly challenges, too. I don't think I've missed a single challenge since starting them last October. Sadly, I think that streak will come to an end this month. I've got a very busy May ahead of me, so I'm trying to decide if I would have time to really give a challenge the attention it deserves.
