Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: RE: Ghosts and Ghouls Team Thread mchally - 2008-10-03 7:12 AM I don't like my Gastro Dr. He tells me to eat more fiber, eat more fiber...it doesn't help. A lot of the high fiber foods available have wheat in them-turns out that my gut doesn't like it. Really doesn't like it. Instead of prescribing drugs, why didn't he check for celiac disease? Oh, thats right, most drs are there to support the pharmaceutical industry. You NEED to find another doctor... considering the issues I have with my stomach it could be a chronic problem or something a lot more serious and at the very least they should be running some bloods and possibly doing some sort of MRI or scope if its that bad... |

Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: RE: Ghosts and Ghouls Team Thread triguynewbie - 2008-10-03 7:45 AM I really hope you don't have Crohn's. My wife does and it is a horrible disease. They will have to do a endoscopy and colonoscopy to diagnose that. There are a ton of Gastro diseases and issues. Hopefully it is just something that you can control with diet. Been there - how is your wife managing it? I have Ulcerative Colitis (the other type of IBD and a large amount of the drugs/treatments/symptoms are the same - the key difference is the area of the GI system thats affected) I hope she is managing to keep it under control! |

Have you had to have surgery for it? Thankfully no - it might be something that happens in the next 10-20 years who knows... they aren keen to do it if there is any chance of yuo managing the condition... And having part of my GI track cut out does not sound like fun.... |

Barium Enema It was the nearest that I have ever come to passing out. I was incredibly miserable. I've had some of the other stuff done as well-I can live with that(as long as they sedate me) My Mom has Crohn's and it really is a terrible disease. As for the BE (I don't know how to do invisible text) well I have never had one, but I can only imagine how much fun it was! They put you on a special x-ray machine and start tipping you all sorts of different directions-I guess it is not enough to just make you feel awful, they need to turn it into some sort of slow motion amusement park ride. |

I've had some of the other stuff done as well-I can live with that(as long as they sedate me) When I had all the GI tests I had to drink the barium. I hope I never ever ever have to do that again. By the end, I was almost vomiting the barium. I'd almost rather have it the other way. |

By the end, I was almost vomiting the barium. I'd almost rather have it the other way. I felt like I was going to puke the barium as well. They did a cool test on me. I swallowed a giant capsule full of tiny barium rings. 3 days later They started taking daily x-rays of my gut. As it turns out, more than a week later, half of them were still in my gut. Did I mention that I have gut issues? Edited by mchally 2008-10-02 9:04 PM |

I think that the human body is fascinating. I guess that applies to life in general. I find trees quite fascinating as well. Are you at all familiar with the healing processes of trees? It is neat. |

You mean that they don't cover flora in med school??? What is the world coming to? I took a class from a guy who, in the past, would have been referred to as a Tree Surgeon. And since I clean up puke...and snot...and pee...and blood... for a living, it takes more than a little GI issue to scare me away. oh, and did I mention I have a daughter with chronic GI issues as well? And a dad with irritable bowel syndrome? |

Maybe I'll just go avatar-less. As a metaphor for not having what I needed to get over my goals. I needed more time. And more motivation. How do you show that in a picture? |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Ghosts and Ghouls Team Thread Planning a run tomorrow. I'm not sure if I will run with my son at his school fun run in the morning, or if I will just watch, then run on my own later. Or, I could go to our local tri club ladies run. Except I'm worried about being too slow for the other ladies that are going. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Maybe that's what needs to be in my avatar. Indecision. |

heh...I don't gross out that easily, except when I'm around blue jollyranchers or brussel sprouts I had some terrible stuff going on when I was going through marathon training. Luckily, I fixed it with some diet changes. |
