woah, this is quite a special thread to come back to after a day or two!

sorry i haven't been checking in more, though you all seem to be getting on just fine in the meantime =)

some of you are pretty serious runners! maybe one day i'll be able to say "oh, today's just an easy 10 miles -- i wouldn't want to be tired for my race tomorrow". Right now it's more like "heading out for 4 miles - be back in a couple of hours" =P

Ah!! A kindred runner spirit on this team!

add me to that 4 short long miles running team!

The 2 mile race went OK today - 13:54. I thought I could have gone a few seconds faster, but I didn't have the pop today. Must have been my taper! LOL

Great job on your race! I can barely run 1 mile that fast

another kindred spirit!

Thanks for the kudos on my race.

Don't be intimidated by my running or anyone elses's running. We're all at different places with our training and abilities. All that matters is working on your own plan for reaching your own goals. In order for me to achieve my goals, my plan is to run every day and I need to average a bit over 7.25 miles each day. There are many days I run more to help make up for the days when I can't get in my daily quota. Hopefully it all balances out in the end, but I could wind up exceeding my goal which is OK since I'm building toward rather high mileage a few months from now.

Regarding speed. I think there are some people on our team much faster than I am - albeit they are also younger. There are some very fast guys in my age group in the local races and I'm working hard to try to narrow the gap. I don't think I'll ever catch the top guy, who can average under 6 min pace, but I think I can work my way into the top 3.

Good Luck on your 10k tomorrow, had one today, Susan Komen Race for the Cure in St Petersburg, tons of people all out for a good cause most do the 5k and a lot of walking groups but is a very good event. I was able to scratch off my goal of completing a sub 50 minute 10K so was happy with that..

All right horsies: I put myself in the hurt locker for you guys today! 8.5 miles w/ monster hills. Brings me to 13 total w/ a goal of 40 for the month. I'll be adjusting that soon. Who else "took one for the team" this weekend and PR'ed for distance. (I know 8.5 is lame for a PR longest run, but it's true)!

Hello Headless teammates!  I rocked my 10K this morning. I beat my old time by nearly 6 minutes.  Still room to improve!  YAY!  I'm rather happy though   I also was far from last today.  Wohoo. I could do cartwheels naked!

8.4 running miles for the week for me. Not as much running as riding this week since the weekend was our MS 150 ride (actually more like 147.8). I did get a short run off the bike the first day. Go me. Today, all my unmentionable parts just hurt.

Looks like everyone had a good week. Some racing accomplishments going on, too. Way to go Headless Horsies!

OK, here is the course description:

Course: Up and down and all around and even through.  This course
features the most difficult and obscure trails and paths
in Monument Valley Park.  This is cross country with some
adventure thrown in.  The course features running up
Monument Creek for about 3/4 mile.

My Garmin measured it at 3.98 miles. I had a good race. Finished in 32:49. The run up the creek really slowed the last mile down. Coming out of the creek and running the last couple hundred yards is much like the feeling of trying to run hard off the bike in a tri.

After my race I waited around for a few hours for my son to race. He did OK.

After I got home I did another little run to work out the soreness and get a good stretch after. The day totaled a little over 9 miles.

Great running horses! Let's keep it going!

What fun!  I checked out some local options for me - most are 10Ks though so need to keep my mileage up if I'll race trail.

good morning horsies!  last night i was sitting on the couch on the phone and it started to get dark out and i was going to not run.  but i thought of y'all and went out and had maybe one of the best runs i've had in the past few weeks.  i would have gone longer but it was really getting dark and i hate to be running by myself in that...long story short i'm on target for my 400 minutes this month!!

Great job this weekend folks. I was a slacker yesterday after Saturday's 9 miler. Actually I did get up for a 1 hour recovery ride before church with plans to run after church. I just ran out of time. Too much to do to get ready for small group from church. On the bright side I did make some killer chicken enchiladas.

Congrats to all the folks who raced this weekend (and to those who ran)!  I did neither.  15 mile bike with my son (and the scouts) on Saturday morning.  They're working on the cycling merit badge.

Rest day yesterday (remember I'm in marathon taper).

29 min spin on the trainer this morning.  Just working on high RPM spinning (up to 120).

40 min run planned at lunch.  Happy Monday all...

Heh.  Didn't think about that reference.  Being election time, I was thinking more about how the term is being used in the McCain/Palin camp...

Another 9+ in the books. Cold north wind today. The days of running in t-shirt and shorts are starting to dwindle rapidly.

Didn't Cat mention something about a Google spreadsheet for the team? Has that info ever been posted? How do we know who has what goal on our team and if they need extra motivation/support from teammates to help meet the goal?

Keep running horses!

5.3 mile run at lunch with some co-workers.

I think Cat was looking for some help from folks that have some experience with Google spreadsheets to help get the team spreadsheets up.  I'll check the Google btchallenge documents to see if our spreadsheet is up.

Shows you where my brain is. Thought 1 was Tom Cruise, then it was Mel Gibson, James Garner, and Jodie Foster.
