So I viewed the source and guess who owns and redirects the domain? You got it. I stand by my prediction. The half will be one loop and the full will be 2. Does WTC park a bunch on names? probably. But they don't have Ironmanhouston, etc. Seems a pretty specific domain name to be purchasing, and it doesn't redirect like all the other names that WTC has parked. I might be way off when the announcement comes but all signs seem to point in the same direction.  |

I do have one bone to throw everyone, though.... The San Luis Pass and the road in Brazoria County will be CLOSED completely to vehicular traffic. The cyclists will have free reign on the Pass and on the other side. Just got approval/confirmation from the Judge yesterday, and Brazoria County officials. This is great stuff. The road on the other side of the pass has been repaved, and is great. You'll be biking right next to the beach, for 12 miles. It'll now be just a 1 loop bike, unlike last year. Hopefully, that holds everyone over for the next couple of days....All I am saying is that it better be a "big" announcement... There has been too much lead-up here to be something small.... I know... I am just trying to stir it up some.... |

I just don't think that type of announcmeent would be worth all the buildup. As has been mentioned before, our sport is known for having the pros race on the same course, at the same time, as the age groupers...it just isn't that big a deal, even if it involves Lance. |

Although it would not do a thing either way for the performance of my own personal race it would be really cool and do a lot for Houston to have a Pro of that level at the race. That's one of the reasons we have Matty Reed and Andy Potts coming to Gateway. We really want to bring the outside triathlon world to Houston. Keith (even without Lance) has done an amazing job of that bringing a Ironman 70.3, now with Gateway we also have an Alcatraz qualifier. The sky's the limit going forward. Lance would be cool though. Stay tuned ; ) |

Like I said, when he's done with the tour and is prepping for Kona, I fully expect him to show up at Lonestar. Besides, I don't think it would take this long to work out the details of him doing the race. My money is still on a change to the run course. |

Check the actual Lonestar 70.3 thread (not this mythical sighting of an IM... thread) but, The La Quinta at 8725 Sea Wall is only 1.5 miles away... I managed to get a room for $99. Just a thought. there are some great hotels along there for reasonable prices. I wouldn't chance driving down in the AM... flat, a wreck on the freeway (freeway closed), or who knows what other issue could arise... less stress and a little more rest on race morning.
