I feel crappy most of the time lately, and forgetful, and my blood pressure is around 94/64 today. It's been consistently in the low 90's systolic, and my HR is usually around 60. Thoughts? Drinking? New meds? How's the heart-any episodes?, sick?--fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, urination? Weight loss? What is your normal BP? No new meds, drinking is ok--since I have been sleeping most of the day it's not superb, but, yeah. Um, episodes after I do a workout or if I'm tired/sleepless or super stressed. I have a cold--I get a little nauseous sometimes. Basically no appetite. Otherwise everything's normal. What's the verdict, DTB? |

If you haven't really been eating much then the oncotic pressures might be off and fluid is going into the tissues--decreasing intravascular volume, lowering BP. Pulse pressure seems a bit lower--around 30 or less...so it fits... Ankle edema? Bloating? Fatigue? Extremities cold? When did you last eat? |

I know when I went in for that powow with the cardiologist he commented that my BP was low. I think it was high 90's that day. Could it just be triathlon training induced? And how do they treat low BP anyway? We're always hearing about how to lower it, never how to increase it, LOL. I just know I feel crappy most days, and that I've been having HA's and memory problems for a while. Vitamin D supplements have helped with the memory to a point. :/ Not sure what to do at this point. |

I'd honestly look to cardiac output then...Maybe your stroke volume is starting to fall because of AVNRT/A-fib? I'm not sure, the only way to get that checked is to have an echo more or less to check ejection fraction. But with that you would have the beginnings of pulm edema...orthopnea, exertional dyspnea? Chest pain/pressure? Lightheadedness? Training shouldn't lower your resting BP that much...BP isn't as transient as HR as far as exercise goes and lowering your BP is not really all that good for your body recovery wise. I have a friend with BP that is pretty low all the time 100/70ish and she has trouble standing for long periods of time, etc. There arn't really a lot of chronic treatments for hypotension that I can think of...really fluid resusciation and epi are the standard, but in acute conditions...It's more of a matter of finding out what is causing the hypotension in the first place. |

This is me thinking out loud in 2nd yr med student fashion. I have a differential, but I can't get much closer than that? |

WOOHOO on buying a house. I'm not sure how you're going to wrap it and put it under a tree though. I dunno...that's pretty low IMO. If you normally run low and have no issues, then that might just be your norm. My friend who is normally around 100/70 just gets cold really easily and can't stand for a long time without moving. It's more concerning if you are normally around 120/80 and you drop to 90/60 and are symptomatic--if you are 120/80 lying down and you stand and are 90/60 then that is worrisome as well. Vitals are relative sometimes. |

It was a great race. The course is in downtown St Petersburg and goes mostly along the water front. The full moon was setting on one side and the sun rising on the other. PERFECT weather, too. It is a really "friendly" race for both spectators and participants. I will keep it on my list of races to do. I was S L O W. Way slower that I figured. I hadn't trained that much and I am bigger than I have ever been while running so that was a factor. Only one way to go from here! (I gotta do better than that at Carlsbad). I was good being out there with all the whippets and gazelles this time. Hopefully I am putting that behind me. I was feeling better until I saw photos, though. (I am keeping one on my private file for inspiration to get rid of this weight). However, I was smiling in all of them. Yeah and Yeah!! |

Then the snow came Monday night and turned icy yesterday. Pretty good today. still cold but the streets are much better. |

Elite 4201 washington state | Subject: RE: Ghoulies Inspired & Wet November Challenge part 2 mndymond - 2010-11-24 7:13 AM so storytime: got home from swimming last night and I was sitting in the living room eating food and texting some gfs on "girl stuff". So my Dad had asked me who I was talking to and I just kind of shrugged and said friends. So he asked me if I had a boyfriend. I just looked at him, shook my head and looked back down awkwardly. So he said something like "too busy" and then we sat there in silence. So back story: when I was in second yr undergrad I wanted to go to this party but my car wasn't working, so I was having a bit of a fit and my Dad had asked me why I wanted to go so badly if it was because I had a bf. I said no, he asked why not...I said I dont know. He asked if I was gay. I said no...he said "it would be okay if you were". I said I wasnt again. So last night I was sitting there with an overwhelming urge to say it but kept silent and being bristly. I think 4 separate people have asked me that question in the past week "do you have a bf-if not, why not"...my friend says I'm not allowed to answer with: "his name is richard, he fights dragons" ...so ya...i'm also not allowed to say "myob". So I just shrug? Im not sure if any of that made sense...just venting as per usual. Oh Melissa, I don't have an answer for you but I can sympathize. I was single until I was 42 yo. For much of that time I shared a house with another single gal. Economics and friends ONLY. But I know people wondered and even occasionally asked. I got a little tired of explaining that I was fine being single, and surely didn't want to get married just to "be" married. |
