Yanti, I think we're full up, got 23 (including us) paddling manatees.  Let's CLOSE the pod until next time around.

Will you get that on our listing in the forums? Pretty please? with poptarts all OVER it!!

I will take your PopTarts although we have been closed for hours. It's in the thread title and in big red letters on our introductory first post.

SALTY!

I actually don't expect anyone to keep up. But nobody should feel slighted if I refer them back to earlier posts either.

Pheeeewwww!  I'm all caught up.  Took a couple of days off to do the family and Christmas thing and you manatees were just chatting away.   Hope everyone had  great holiday!  I only had 2 or 3 hiccups with the sweets, but I've been to the produce section and stocked up!  Ready to tackle this week.

I'm excited to be in this group!  Everyone seems super interesting.  We have a cool collection of folks here.

If you still have TRI mentor space available I would love to join this group.  It sounds like you have great fun and you have PUGS! I live in the WA Pug Palace.

A bit about me.  I am a single middle aged mother of two sons, both are in college.  I am a runner. I have completed several half marathons and run on a regular basis.  A couple of the gals I run with on Saturday mornings and myself decided that 2012 was the year we would TRI...  So here I am.  The running part I am good with, the swimming part I am totally ok with too, the bike eeekkk can one have their bike outfitted with a big hamster like protective ball... Just asking...

I am a total TRI newbie.  My experience thus far with TRI's is purchasing equipment. I purchased an end of year 2011 clearance road bike in October with the help of a good friend who has completed several TRI's. My family names their cars so in the spirit of naming vechiles I named my scarey two wheeled light green & white contraption Tinkerbell. I bought myself a gently used wetsuit for Christmas, and finally the bravest purchase of all I bought a SWIMSUIT which I have been swimming in two days a week.

Much to learn and a bit overwhelmed. Need to clean up my diet and drop 20 pounds.  Any and all helpful advice would be appreciated.

2012 Goals

January - Disneyland Tinkerbell Half

May - Portland Rock and Roll Half

Seattle Danskin TRI

Seattle TREK TRI

TRI TURTLE TRI

Heeeeey, another Washingtonian AND you have pugs?!?! Looks like we are doing a few of the same races, too. Let me know if you ever need a training buddy!

LGraff - 2011-12-28 1:38 AM Hey all, I'm Laurie. I joined BT back in 2010 but have been MIA the past few months due to moving, starting a new job etc. 2012 will be my third tri season and I'm hoping to do my first 70.3.

Family/Personal
I'm 30 and single. Mom to two neurotic dogs, Sadie and Skyla. I live just outside Denver, recently moved back after being gone for 12 years. I work as a hair colorist and am fortunate enough to work for a boss who supports my goals and training.

Current training
Right now I've been trying to get on a schedule and get my eating as clean as I can before I start my training plan. I'm running probably 3 times a week.

Weight loss goals
Last season i lost 25 lbs but put about 10 back on since summer. I am hoping to lose the 10 I regained along with an additional 10. Most importantly though I am hoping to get my eating under control.

2012 Races
June - IMKS 70.3
August - Denver Tri For A Cure
October - Denver Rock n Roll Marathon
(I may try to throw an oly and a few 5k or 10k races in as well)

GRAPHY BABY!

I am so glad you made the move, and it's so great to be back in touch with you. By the way ... I have a really good friend, one of my best friends, in Denver. He's very fun and very smart and likes beer. He runs, and likes 10Ks. Not that I'm trying to set you up or anything.

For all the lovers of smush-faced dogs here (and everyone else too):

TAG! You've been PUGGED ... you're it!

I was dog mom to these three cuties--took care of them every single day for 3.5 years.

aw...I am pug-less--but I do have this:

That's Mika--my Shiba Inu.

On another note, I am enjoying my day off--maybe a bit too much. I already un-decorated my house, and I am trying to motivate myself to get out on my bike and GO, but my chair is SO comfy today!

Sooooo cute! Shiba Inus ... hilarious ... definitely some attitude, and I like that.

I've had several Shiba Inus in my dog training classes (I was a dog lady in a previous life ... ) and I swear every last one of them would roll their eyeballs at me.

Undecorating a house is some work! You should log that! We just leave our decorations up 'til, say, February.

well...to be honest, my lights are held by permanent hooks--very close to my height, so a ladder and tools aren't needed, we have one tree and a couple of little santa thingies, so it sounded like a whole lot more than it is.

Its all good--I'm currently watching the X-Terra world championship on my Tivo (while wasting time on my laptop)--so I'm betting as soon as it ends I will be on my bike! I just had to find my motivation!

You know how I feel about cute puppy photos! Any photos! My sister and I were just discussing yesterday how adorable all the photos of reindeer dogs were that folks were putting on FB ... then we both went to the window to look outside and see where my mom's Doberman might be ...

Finally got off my lazy butt(I knew watching a tri would help with that!), and I made it out on my bike--its on my training log. I then decided to do a little WiiFit for a 1/2 hour--always fun, and great for getting stretched out and cooled down.

Welcome to BT - wagonnatri - you must be another PACNW gal based on your race plans...me too!  I am in North Bend and love to ride the bike!  EXCITING times are ahead.

Tripopo - hopefully in this manatee time when you learn how to "get better at getting up at 0430 to go S/B/R" you can help me learn!! I don't do that well at ALL.  My rule after my first IM is that I wouldn't get up before 5AM to go train!!  I just signed up for a 'dry land' class that starts at 6AM and is 40 min from my house (on the way to work at least) which is skirting on breaking that rule.  I have been going to the swim that starts at 6:45...so they are just tacking on the dry land....Lucky for me?!?!

 ~Ann

Thanks Ann. Yes I am a PACNW gal too.  I live in Bremerton, WA which is ferry boat ride across the Puget Sound from Seattle.  Hopefully your love of bike riding will rub off on me.  Riding Tink on the road = Surprised...
