I need to visit Beth's team thread cause I need some hot leg inspiration did 35 pushups in a minute today--but the last 5-10 were pretty shallow so I don't know if they should really count held a prone plank for a full minute and the straight side ones for 30 or 45 seconds (not sure cause I wasn't writing it down, I need to write it to remember it) the side lying bent leg planks were around 30 seconds |

I'm doing pushups to help strengthen my shoulder. (So I can beat Beth in the swim challenge next month.) Putting my hands closer together seems to work the triceps more. Holding them farther apart seems to work the chest more, but I worry about putting too much stress on my elbows. Of course, I could also just center my hands shoulder-width apart. So I was wondering how you're doing them. Thanks! Dee |

Quite often, people tend to be very critical of themselves, so we're going to turn that around and focus on the positive instead. Tell us a physical characteristic about yourself that you DO like. OK, as Sergeant Doberman, I'm here to back up Bunny's challenge! Thank you Bunny, Greg, and Judi for playing! Terri, Beth, Dee ... CHECK IN ON YOUR BODY HOTNESS! [Everyone else, too, but they dared to post without saying something really good about their bodies]. As for me ... don't laugh ... I have beautiful, rock-hard, bulging anterior tibialis muscles. (Wow, I think I just turned myself on writing that, LOL). I'll post pics. Seriously, I've had such nasty tibial stress fractures that I've worked really hard on making sure my lower leg musculature is in good order, and especially on not overtraining and losing weight. Edit: I just realized even in the fuzzy stolen avatar pic, you CAN actually see the tibialis anterior bulging out and stretching all the way down the front of my lower leg, and the calf muscle sticking out behind! Well, biking, even though it's on a stationary bike, has done a good thing for my calf muscles. So I'm quite happy with that. |

I started doing these because Rene said she'd messed up her shoulder after a Swim Challenge, and foud that push ups helped. So I tried it. Sure enough, the shoulder seems to be better. So maybe a bit wider and a bit higher than the shoulders would work for me....? I only experimented with the width. Hadn't thought to change the height.... Thanks! |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Hard Core Tri Corps (Team 8) Thread Hi gang, Back to work as usual for me...core endurance class was really hard today. Wish I culd remember all of what he has us do in the hour because it's ALWAYS a killer and core strength is a key element for training. I'd share it if I could remmember it. Main thing is you lean back on the lower spine supporting your weight on your extended hands. Legs remain elevated 6-12 inches for almost everything. There's a lot of leg extensions both to the front and on each diagonal, rotations fro side to side (hands flat on the floor in front and you rotate from right to left hip moving arms with you0 lying on the back with oneleg upright and touching the foot side to side (each leg then both legs), knees in then extend and both legs up...sit ups, a variation of push ups on a step, using the step as weight to do squats, lunges and various presses...oh yeah he kills us. Got my strength set done. Plannig on a run after lunch digests some. J |

Extreme Veteran 393 Columbia, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Hard Core Tri Corps (Team 8) Thread Happy Monday! I spend all week on the computer so I also try to avoid it on the weekends. This morning I added 2000 yards to my November swim goal total - yay! Unfortunately my ITB is acting up something fierce now. Not b/c of the swim, but b/c of the short run yesterday, I think. As far as General Bunny's question...at the risk of sounding insanely conceited...I like my lean, muscular build. It doesn't take much for my arms and legs to look defined. I have a feeling that won't last forever, though! Hope the rest of the Corps has a great day! |
