Masters is a go for Monday.

Tomorrow AM I'm trying the bike for the first time in almost a month.

Another week of rest, and then I'm going to try a run a week from tomorrow.

This injury/recovery timeout from training stinks!!!

My short term goal is to spend the next month trying to get moving again so I can start HIM training in late January.

I've been okay with my training  this week, which is better than the rest of the off season so far! I ran on Monday at the gym, on Weds. I did an elliptical session with some weights after and WiiFit; yesterday I ran and biked at the gym. Today, I have a swim workout/lesson/form evaluation! My tri club is offering it at the"Swimstitute"---our local swimming school. The cool thing is that its free--well, mostly--I have to pay $8 cause I'm not a member of the school, but still, it will be great getting input on my form and just getting in a full swim workout!

I also received new shoes this week--Vivo Barefoots--They are AWESOME! Even more so, cause I found them here on BT for $50--compared to their reg. price of $140!!! I have no hip or heel pain today, which I usually have when I run in normal running shoes, so I think its a good direction for my running!

My swim workout went GREAT! I ended up swimming a total of 2,000 meters---that's so much more than I have done before! The only issues that the workout leader noticed was my lifting/turning my head out of the water for breathing--instead of keeping my ear on my shoulder--, and I noticed that I wasn't looking down as much (which was causing me to sink)....Otherwise though, it went well--I'm not fast by any means, and I had to pause between laps, but I was able to do EVERY lap--and I wasn't completely exhausted afterwards; so I consider it a successful workout! I am looking forward to next week's workout already!

Tonight I'll probably hit the gym for a small run, and then do some ab work--nothing major.

It's really good to read about your success in the pool.  Keep up the great work, Kate!

Made it to our tri club's weekly run.  Did 5 miles at a 9:24 pace.  I need to get more training sessions in if I want to have some good times in our January Freeze series, so I might have to look up some run workouts for the next month.

OK, back in the saddle -- literally and figuratively.  Updated my training plan to reflect 1 hour swim + 1 hour run on Tu/Th/Sa/Su and 1 hour bike on Mo/We/Fr.  Will take me a couple of weeks to get up to the times, but I'll get there.  Heavier swim/run focus due to my weakness in both of these.

On the good news front have been running more frequently and can feel the difference -- legs are not nearly as sore the next day.

First masters today -- only 5 of us there, and it was great. Learned some new drills, received feedback on stroke, etc. Small enought to get some good coaching. Did I mention it was FREE?

Tomorrow I'm trying the bike again. Knee feels better every day.

Congrats on meeting your goal Johanne!

I have my first 10k on Saturday; I did my last run for the week yesterday--4.6 miles in 1 hour--pretty decent for my running. I plan on getting on my bike this week, and doing another massive swim workout this Friday, but apart from that, I will probably just be doing WiiFit...and homework--its my last week of school--and both my classes have a paper or take home final--so lotsa work!

My former coach got a hold of me on the phone this weekend, and we're going to try and work out a way for her to train me (through "Training Peaks" on the internet) without it costing me an arm and leg (possibly, just half an arm!)...She's super excited that I am going to do an Olympic. I'm happy to have the help, I know I will need guidance in my training and something to hold me accountable (not that you guys don't fill that role! )

Okay, off to class now!

Kate, great job on your run! I think a lot of athletes work with coaches online using Training Peaks or some other website. That'll work out perfectly for you. Especially since she knows you. She'll know when to push, etc. I'm sure you are going to love having a plan again

Any big weekend plans???

A whole lot of fun. Bells are always fun. Found out I had fat arms because of them though, lol.

Ok I fell off the wagon again - I've been totally lazy for the last 2 weeks with the exception of walking to/from BFF's to do some scrapbooking.

I'm going to try a start from scratch/get moving plan though . I'm not sure where to start though. I may go for the 7 month c25k, beginner cycle plan and a custom swimming plan though - what do you think? It would probably enable me to do the sprint tri  in November next year to celebrate 17 years since my transplant or get some decent times for the mini - I'll probably decide closer to the date.

Only issue is that I need a way to do the plans without overwriting everything else, lol.

3600 yards? Thats quite a class. I only did 1500 in my masters on Wednesday (had to leave early). I must be in the 'beginners' masters

This weekend's big plan -- I run. Knee feels much better. In fact today I didn' even think about my knee until I was at work and realized I didn't think about knee. No pain, feels good. A slow run/walk on Sunday AM to test things out. Hope all is well -- I got plans!

With two weeks off, I would just look at what you were doing about two weeks before you "fell off" and start from there and see how you feel.  A lot of plans have a "recovery" week and so you just happen to have had two weeks of "recovery".

Now, get back it it!!! Wink
